For some people is always Halloween right? Is a common thing to watch some horror films to ''get into the mood'' , you probablu watched some classics like Halloween, The Exorcist, Nightmare On Elm Street and A Quiet Place. For that reason you may think you already know all the best flickers out there. Well, you are wrong. It turns out there are several hidden gems out there, waiting to be found. Fortunaly, I'm here to help, below I introduce some flickers you may not be aware of.
Spring (2014)
A young man in a personal tailspin flees the US to Italy, where he sparks up a romance with a girl hiding a dark secret. What begins as a naturalistic romance in an idyllic Mediterranean town, takes an unexpected turn as the two lovers confront figurative and literal relationship monsters. Balancing dark humor, heart, and visceral thrills, Spring evokes feelings and emotions, not a horror film, but a genre of is own.
Oculus (2014)
Ten years ago, a tragedy struck the Russel family, leaving two siblings changed, when Tim was convicted of the murder of their parents. Now a adult, Tim is released from custody, but his sisted, Kaylie, still haunted by that night, and is convinced her parent's deaths were caused by a malevolent supernatural force trapped inside a Glass, an antique mirror. Determined to prove it, Kaylie tracks down the mirror, but soon her plan don't work as she want to.
Annihilation (2018)
After her husband dissapears, Lena, a biologist, signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition into a mysterious zone where the common don't apply. Soon she learns that everything beyond the strange mist is, well, strange and changed. The flickers is a mix of horror, cosmic horror, mystery and the human nature of destruction. One tip, pay close attention to the plot or by the end you will be clueless.
Session 9 (2001)
Some asbestos abatement crew takes a clean-up job at an abandoned mental asylum, between an intense work schedule, tensions grow, and mysterious events occuring around th em. Its title refers to a series of audio-taped sessions with an asylum patient that run parallel to the crew's experiences.''
Silent Hill (2006)
Adaptation of the game ''Silent Hill'', and honestly the most successful one. During her dangerous sleepwalking bouts, Sharon talks about a mysterious place : Silent Hill. Determined to help her daughter, Rose discobers Silent Hill, a deserted town in Virginia. Rose decide to take her daughter there, when both of they enter the mist, Sharon disappears. Rose tries to find her, but quickly realizes that there's nothing normal about the town. Shrouded in a ash fog, people with strange behaviour, creatures and a darkness that rots everything that touches it. Rose sets off in a frantic quest to find her daughter.
Kansen (2004)
In a general hospital near bankruptcy, the reduced staff is working under a severe stress. During the emergency attendance to a burned patient with Dr. Uozumi and two other nurses, Dr. Akiba and the nurse commit an error, injecting sodium chlorate and killing him. Dr. Uozumi convinces the team to forge the report to save their careers. Meanwhile, an ambulance leaves a patient in the emergency with a lethal infection. When the muscles and internal organs of the patient liquefy, Dr. Kiyoshi Akai convinces his two colleagues to examine and research the virus, leading the employees of the night shift to a tragic end.
Chakushin Ari (A.K.A One Missed Call) (2003)
Forget the remake, the original is superior in every way. What you would do if you receive a voicemail with the date and hour of your own death?
People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The surviving characters pursue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.
Overlord (2018)
If you are a zombie, action and gore fan, Overlord is your thing. The plot follows several USA soldiers who are dropped behind enemy lines the day before D-Day, there they team up with a local girl in order to destroy the enemy signal tower. Soon, they find it out that their problems is only at a start. Weird experiments and a virus that change humans and corpses into zombie like creatures.
