Our History
PMS Clan was founded in 2002 to create a safe environment and community for women that promoted unity through active competition in ladders and tournaments. Since our inception, PMS Clan has provided a home for thousands of gamers, created 60+ game divisions on all platforms and launched divisions in all regions. We’ve also sponsored over 30 competitive teams or players, and achieved near 50 championship bracket placements at tournaments such as CPL, MLG, WSVG, WCG, ESWC and more.
Over the last decade, we’ve continued to be a community of players who have supported each other. Now we are re-activating our competitive focus to help close the gap on gender disparity in competitive gaming. We want our community of 60,000 strong women and allies in PMSA to actively support the new generation of competitive gamers. We will do this by showcasing diversity and encouraging acceptance in both social and competitive gaming spaces.
Our Mission
PMS Clan is a video game community committed to breaking down walls, stereotypes, and boundaries for women gamers by providing a pro-women environment, fostering competitive spirit, and building an inclusive support network for women and our allies. Our mission is to bring together, re-energize and continue to build our community to help increase growth and opportunities for competitive women players.
Our Why
Women are underrepresented in competitive gaming for many reasons but have the competency, skill and competitive spirit that is proven to reach top tier gameplay. While the world of gaming and esports is accelerating in support and opportunity, the presence of women players and other diversity groups are significantly lacking. Witnessing and supporting the success of someone who we see ourselves in is incredibly powerful. We learn to value ourselves, overcome the fear of not belonging, and take risks to discover our inherent strengths. We are committed to raising the profile of the incredible women players through the creation of women and co-ed teams that can compete at the highest level and become this inspiration to others.
Our Vision
We believe in a future of the normalization of women in competitive gaming and an inclusive, sustainable paradigm that recognizes and values women as equal competitors. Our name and tagline, “play like a girl” is a reappropriation statement that reinforces we can compete at the same level as others that dominate the landscape—as women. The future will have no need to define against harassment, advocate for recognition and opportunity and we’ll be proud to dominate as gamers. This is the ultimate gaming achievement to unlock.
PMS ALLY
Our PMS Allies (PMSA), formerly known as H2O Clan, organically arose in 2004 when others sought to be part of our community. We can't succeed at normalizing women in gaming without our allies. They are our friends, spouses, siblings, children, parents, sponsors, and others who are just as passionate about supporting diversity and inclusiveness. They compete with us, help us identify those who feel excluded, and champion our causes.
