i have seen over the years on social networks , blogs, forums etc. That women do love xbox over the ps3 ,it's crazy to me that microsoft wants you to pay for so many things unlike the ps3 . personally ps3 need improve some more but they on the right track , for instance the ps vista a wonderful portable device. |

Well, I have all 4: Xbox (w/ Live), PS3, Wii and PC. I mainly play Xbox because of the social support (easier to chat, easier to collaborate in game, etc.). I play PS3 less only because using the Xbox for clan activities and such makes setting up the PS3 a more difficult process (we just need a better living room setup, to be honest), though I do occasionally play PS3. I also occasionally play Wii. I would play PC more but I use my PC for other things most of the time.... So, I would say XBOX wins only because of convenience when it comes to clan stuff and so its setup outweighs the other systems (for now... because I may jump over to PC eventually).

I see a lot of people saying that they prefer the Xbox over the PS only because of cross game chat. I don't use the game chat, cause I find it annoying. I'm trying to play say CoD, concentrate on it, then I have my friend screaming in my ear about a plasma grenade hitting him in the face on Halo. I see the system as a gaming system, as it's suppose to be, not a computer you use to chat with friends. I have a computer/laptop if I want to chat with someone. I like both system, prefer the PS3 over Xbox, because of much more exclusives. Xbox has slowed down with hit exclusives and concentrated on casual living room entertainment then what it's suppose to be. For gamers, and gaming. Interface is easier to use on the PS3 as well, for me anyways. PSN is free, and now PS+ you pay 50$ a year, same as xbox, but they're giving you free games. So right now there's 4-5 games, say value at 40$ a piece, that's about 200$ right there, and it's only the start of it. Again I'm stating in the form of gaming, not what chatting and stuff. I still have my box, mainly collecting dust unless I want to play Dance Central or Halo, but I want MS to release more exclusives, I want to see new IP coming out. They keep re-hashing old names, Halo 4, new Gears, (I'm still getting them) But I want new.

I have both systems, and I still think of my main console as my PS3. I think you are assuming that more women like the Xbox because of all of the Xbox divisions and how active those in Xbox divisions are on the forums, but I think it's the same for men it's split with women just as it is men. I personally prefer the PS3 because I think the XMB is easier to navigate and the controller, whenever I am on the Xbox I feel like I am going to get carpel tunnel if I use it for to long.

I think its hard to say what girls prefer because I think a huge reason why people pick a system at certain ages is convenience. For example, I got my PS3 in 08 and that was because the red ring was a HUGE problem with 360s. It took me two years to come up with the money to buy that PS3, which would of been around the same price as the xbox,it took me 2 years cause I had to pay for graduation, school trips and phone bill, you know kids stuff. I could not afford to buy both, and knowing I was going to a University I wasn't going to buy another system. I need all the college money I could save, it was the last gift to myself. PS3 made the most sense (I had a pro/con list actually), and the games tho 360 had more games out, it wasn't like OMG i have to get it. Also i got the backwards compatible one so it was like PS2 games until I get money!!! Also having money for live, no way.
I'm not saying PS3 isn't a good system, I still like it better then 360. The chat and kinect, is the only reason I want a 360. But the chat for me has been a recent development. I got my first mic last year. I never talked to people on this thing besides messages. Half of it is because I can be a rager when people say certain things, also I got a mouth and I want to be respectful to people even if they are idiots. PS Plus when it first came out was unreliable and useless but now Sony is doing exactly what I expected, stepping their game up. All the free games and PS Plus exclusives and discounts they are giving me made me rethink spending 50 bucks on a yearly subscription rather it was on 360 or PS. Yes the only very very bad part of PS3 is their chat, I wish it was like xbox's alot but it isn't so I gotta deal. 360 I feel is doing to much with their system with the MLG channels, MLB all that stuff, I don't really want it. I don't want it on my PS either. Netflix and Hulu is good, but that is it. That is my opinion. |

I loved my PS2 growing up, I kinda got out of gaming and didn't even know they had come out with a new system until I met my boyfriend in '08 who introduced me to the 360. I fell in love. I've owned a PS3, but I wasn't a huge fan. The controller fit in my hand better, but I couldn't get used to the joysticks being so close together. My thumbs slipped off a lot too...drove me insane.
Honestly, with all the stuff xbox offers...I understand why they charge a fee. Giving all that stuff away for free would put them out of business. I unfortunately had to sell my PS3, 1 of my xboxes, my Wii and my 42" tv for bills recently, but maybe I'll be set up by the time the new Playstation comes out and I can enjoy that.

To me both consoles have there flaws. Depending on the game you play they have there flaws. Like in my opinion sports games are better on ps3 and some shooter games are better on Xbox. That's how I see it

I have to say I have both systems also and.....I <3 Xbox and everything about it from controller to chat system and everything in between! I do like the PS3 too but not enough to really ever play it because I'd much rather just play on my Xbox. I'm an Xbox girl and always will be!

We have both consoles and ended up getting another xbox because of the interface. When you want to game with friends, it's just easier with the party system.
We still love the PS3 though. Some of the exclusives guarantee we won't sell it. I just prefer the xbox's user friendliness.I won't game on a PC because I prefer a controller to a mouse. Plus my fave game on PC has too many players (can't get 12 to play together as a team on console, LOL). The graphics are beautiful but there's so much more to gaming than that. Maybe someday we'll get a system on PC, but I'm not working towards that. I'm happy on my box

I never had the orginial Xbox or 360 so regarding the chat functions, I don't really have anything to compare with. I'm just a sucker for the Playstation exclusive titles. Isn't it the games that matters?

There are more women on Xbox because there are more Xboxes sold. Everyone has a preference, but when there are nearly twice the amount of Xboxes in (American) homes, it's not surprising that there's more women on Xbox - it's just more readily available.

I've never had the chance to play on PS3. I have a PS2 with a bunch of old games, mostly my daughter played on it. She gave me her old Xbox 360 over a year ago, and I haven't looked back since! I had originally wanted PS3 but she said alot of my older games wouldn't play on it, as the newer ones weren't backwards compatible? So that turned me off PS3.

I think its just a coincedence that more women play the xbox, I personally play the PS3(although not lately), xbox and have a gaming PC, I know women who play the PS3 the xbox and the pc, i think women tend to be more social and the xbox defiantly makes socializing easier, PS3 you have to be in the same game to chat, or not in a game at all, which makes it hard to just chill sometimes, while the xbox you can all do your own thing but can still chat with your friends.

Theres typically a bigger player base on the xbox, that could be a reason why.
