Does the clan have any way of actually tracking the amount of activity on the site? I mean, obviously we can see how many registered users there are, divisions turn in their hours, etc. But I would be really interested in more specific data. For example:
On average, how many recruits complete recruitment? What's active to casual ratio? On average, how long do active members stay active? Of registered users, how many are actually members? Actually active? How many PMS I H2Os participate in gaming events each year? What are members favorite thing about this community? What's their greatest complaint? What percent of members have the 'elite' status? How many practice hours, on average, are earned a month? I know that's a lot of information stretched out through a long period of time, but I think it would awesome to be able to know more about the dynamics of the clan, how many man (or woman) hours are put in, what are demographics are. Does any of this info already exist? Would anyone else be interested in this kind of data? |

I think that would be some good stuff to know. I would think that there are some of those that are tracked.

Some of this data is tracked, some of it can be reported on, and some of it is too timely to track (highest hours in a month by a member) to warrant it being tracked.
If there is a specific use for the data, please put a pm together sent to kitteh and myself. Some of this data is confidential, some is made available to sponsors, and some just hasn't been a high priority to report on to date. Let us know. |

I would be really interested to see the divisional to casual member ratio. I can't even imagine how much of a pain it would be to organize all that stuff! The interest is there, but I certainy don't have a use for it other then satisfying curiosity.

Trust me, it is Vamp. It's a lot of work which I used to do by myself, that the General's now handle amongst themselves. Much better when there are multiple people doing it instead of just one.
Fuel, I'm curious, how would that information help you to be a better member or be more active?

It would be interesting to know but it would be a pain to gather all that data.

The numbers would be great to have if only to show new members how awesome we are... but for the amount of hassle it would take to log it all? I think they eventually learn for themselves that we're the coolest kids on the block.

The numbers wouldn't just show how awesome we are but also help figure out what parts of the clan and/or site may need adjusting. Stat tracking numbers like that are often used at my job to help reflect what aspects we need to put more focus on or not which in turn can be used to attract more users and keep them.
If that makes sense. haha But yes, these stats would be so neat, at least to me, from a Marketing Perspective as well as just Easter Eggs fun! |

Link, that's why we track what we do. The information is shared to Execs and Generals at this time

As a recruit, I would be interested to know some of theses stats. For example, I was torn equally between recruiting into Halo or BF3. My personal preference is to join the division with the fewest members, to try and even things out a little.
The other stats, like member->casual and vice versa; very useful for tracking what percentage of members are 'Active' and how many might need a reminder. From an administrative POV, it would clear the way for retention projects. I imagine the only reason a recruit would quit or simply fall inactive would be due to stagnancy. perhaps being unable to hit practice, or the practices are always with the same people. Practice captains would also be able to report on varying degrees of interest, and how they correlate to member/recruit activity. Then there's the pride. Pride can be a strong motivator, and being able to determine exactly what there is to be proud of can be enough of an incentive to stick it out. Might add that extra level of structure as well, knowing how many, say, senior members (more than X months membership) there are, for example. I hope some of that made sense. I realize I rambled a bit. TM |
