Post Shot Online

I just started playing Shot Online today, it's a free MMO game in which you...play golf. Yes, as riveting, no doubt, as it doesn't sound, it actually is. I was pleasantly surprised by the game, and I'm a hardcore gamer. I recommend you check it out, it's a really small and fast download. Plus I kind of need someone to help me with the quests, and I don't know anyone in real life who plays this lol. If you do decide to play this, be sure to send me a message or friend request, the server I play on is "Hollid" and I play on the "Novice" channel. My in-game name is "Veronica92" (without the quotation marks). I'll link to the trailer below, the official website is: http://shotonline.gamescampus.com/

Oh of course not. I hate cheaters, but gameguard is definitely NOT the way I would go when it comes to "anticheat programs". I'm not sure if you know a lot about gameguard or not though. Its a very intrusive piece of software. Basically it's a rootkit. Not sure if you know what a rootkit is or not. I would recommend looking it up if you aren't familiar.

Have you tried to play the game on a different user other then admin on your pc? you can't unless it has admin. The rootkit has to be able to go through everything on your computer or it won't start the game.

Its really hard to get out of your computer to.

I am puttin up the Wiki on it so people understand what a rootkit is.

as you can see some games have left Gameguard for others. Not saying its because of it being a rootkit but obviously something is up. There are actually some very well known games on the list...its really too bad.

If I am not mistaken WOW had a problem with their antihack program(Warden) when it first was launched and legal action was taken for memory scans. Basically people could read your IMs and stuff of that nature.

Hey I just wanted you to know that I am not tellin ya what to do or tryin to mess up people playing games with you. I know if it were me I would want to know a little bit more about the anticheat software. Some might not be aware of what it does or even that its installed. So hope you dont take me posting that the wrong way.

VERY IMPORTANT
If you do uninstall the game it will be on your computer still. There is NO UNINSTALL for it

And hmm thanks for bringing this up, it's kind of interesting. I couldn't find anything about memory scans for it on Wikipedia though.

The wiki has been altered many times. It used to have plenty of info about the problems it had. It was on a couple computer security forums that I first learned of gameguard and that fact it is indeed a rootkit. I'm sure if you search around the net you will find plenty on it. A LOT of AVs detect it as malware.

A lot of anti-viruses also claim GameSpy Arcade is malware.

Gamespy Arcade is known to carry adware that injects .dll files. It's also known for installing itself without people knowing it. These are things that Malware does..so yes I would consider this to be Malware.

As for Gameguard, you don't have to believe that it's a rootkit. I do stand by what I have already stated however.

Have fun and happy gaming.
