On Thursday, May 21, the multiplayer demo for Red Faction: Guerrilla is coming out. Providing the game demo turns out well and after evaluating the aspects of multiplayer that are available in the demo with other members of the clan, I would like to setup a Red Faction: Guerrilla division when the game is released on June 2nd.
The gameplay in Red Faction: Guerrilla is very similar to many of the games supported by clan now and in the past, with one drastic difference; the environment. When the match starts, the map is full bridges and buildings and other man-made structures for the player to utilize as cover and tactical positioning. However, some of these structures can be very easily destroyed, with others taking more work and ingenuity, which will force players to think about where and how they use vantage points and for how long, which will almost certainly create fast paced, constantly moving matches that won’t be bogged down by someone “camping” behind a building or glitching on to a roof top; if you can’t reach them, simply find a way to bring them down to you. This style of gameplay will make for matches that are constantly fresh and moving and will offer more creative opportunities for players to take out opponents rather than just “Get the best weapon, find the best place to park, spam weapon until the other team is dead.” Since the whole environment can be used as a weapon, matches will be more dependent upon who can utilize the environment and the hardware in order to win a match. In team based matches, this could create situations that cater to both the skilled and tactical and the fast and frenzied player. A team of people, who like to run around blow things up, might actually have the upper hand in some cases, while a team who likes to carefully pick out structures to control and destroy might have a better chance at surviving with planning and know-how. Red Faction: Guerrilla has competitive gameplay modes such as the usual deathmatch and team deathmatch game types including:
In addition to these adversarial gameplay types, Red Faction: Guerrilla will also have the unique Wrecking Crew modes in which players take turns to see who can do the most damage in a given amount of time. While only one player can be out on the map at a time in the Wrecking Crew modes, other players can spectate and watch the current player reign havoc across the map. These include:
Modes like this not only offer a nice distraction from the usual multiplayer matches, but they also offer players a chance to familiarize themselves with the effects certain weapons have on the environment which in turn could help them become far more efficient in adversarial matches. During practices, this could be a fun, yet productive way to break up the usual PvP practice sessions. While I do not have a full list of people who would be willing to join the division yet, I do have a few, and I’m confident I will be able to find enough members to meet the 8 player minimum before the game’s release, if not before the release of the demo. Once I have my full list of members I will their tags and contact info available immediately. I believe Red Faction: Guerrilla would be an excellent addition to the games already supported by the clan and I believe that if we start the division early enough we could more quickly attract members and recruits, male and female alike, who are looking to join an RF:G clan. Thank you for your consideration. -H2O Teksuo For more information on Red Faction: Guerrilla, you can visit the official Red Faction: Guerrilla Website or Gametrailers.com
