What to say through headset? :-(

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a headset, but I’m pretty shy – I have no idea what to say! Makes me feel like a silent and shy outsider, when I really just want to take part of the conversation!

What are you supposed to say through a headset really? Where the enemies are etcetera?
I just started gaming online, so purchasing a headset and all that is kinda new to me.

If you have l4d you can sit in the safe room and talk to the character's. Bill was a war vet who likes to acknowledge the fact that he is a war veteren like it was a brand new pair of yves saint laurent jeans, Zoey likes to be a woman and utter dumb things and Francis is an emo who hates elevators, zombies and pianos. Louis...well...He can help you on Ebonics!! You'll really get good conversation i promise.

and i am TOTALLY being serious. it's 7am, and yes i love losing my mind. You're bound to find someone you click with that'll get you talking. Godspeed young grasshopper.

Just relax and have fun man. Best thing to do is not rehearse something before you say it, just let it flow. Works the same way with girls, never rehearse what youre gonna say, because when you run out of material you rehearse, YOU'RE DEAD!

Yeh as Ninja said, just say what comes naturally and let it flow. Just try to get involved in conversations and reply to other people

just say watever it really doesnt matter, when i first got my mic i just cursed everytime i died an ppl sarted laughin at me llol. great way to meet new ppl xD

Here's what I do:

- Wait for someone to speak
- Check if anyone is there
- Be sarcastic or funny or stupid

For example, in Rock Band, I always like to start with a hello. Then we start talking a little. If you want, start asking about DLC, scores, skill and such. If anything starts happening during the game, you can comment about it.

Same goes for games like Halo and Call of Duty. Start talking about random things or keep your eye on the game. Sometimes, two guys could be having their own conversation, while two others are giving each other heads-up.

So, do whatever fits you.

Try not to think too much into it.

Just be yourself, if you know call-outs even better (maybe a teammate can help you learn them)
Make conversation - and by all means, if you get matched up with a female, don't be surprised -- we're out there lol

Yeah, adding onto what serenity said, female gamers I'll admit aren't retarded, hehe . I mean, I hate going into a Call of Duty lobby and hear "YO WHUT UP MAH DOG?" "CHEAH WHUT'S UP WIT YOU?" "NAH NAH NOT MUCH WHAT BOUT CHU?"

I enjoy playing with both male and female gamers though.

I beat boxed tonight on headset when we were playing my friend's game "laser tag" on valhalla...

I usually just go with the flow. But I do the woman thing every now and then depending on my mood.

I used to be insanely shy [my div members can vouch for me on that] and never used to talk in practice or anything like that. But once you get to know people you will find you speak more and become less shy. Now my Division members can shut me up lol.

hehe had the same problem in the beginning.. and still have when there are strangers around.. i play better when i dont talk too much but when i dont really know what to say and i want to break the silence i just make a weird sound or start singing haha

oh and im a real sarcastic person which makes ppl laugh once in a while... atleast i think im funny every time!!!

occasionally when i'm in a weird and wonderful mood its fun to tell team mates the wrong info so they end up 6 ft under... or "hey watch out for my grenade... oh no too late..." but that normally ends up with me getting booted haha... that just don't appreciate a sense of humour = )

I'm quite a shy person usually so I understand where you are coming from, but it will all fall into place and you will eventually relax into it

There's no set thing to say etc, but the conversations will soon start flowing don't worry!

Start with a hello, then use the hailed mute button when ever you bump into the enemy :P

Most people online are nice once you mute the loud mouths and show off's in the room you should be ok.

best is to be like "what's up ppl?" after the game has started...eventually someone will respond, say where u died..someone who talks a lot is bound to be in the room someday and then BAM new pal..then u will feel comfy enough to talk more and it'll be easier i would never use my mic b4 either

im pretty shy too so i feel your pain. sometimes i talk and sometimes i dont. it depends on the personalities of the others in the room for me. eventually though, i relax and stop thinking about it. you'll get used to it.

I Just Tell Them I Have My Green Card Most Of The Time I Play Alone I Don't Even Bother Talking Because I Have This Thing About Me If Someone Says Something About Me I Have To Say Something Lol. But Don't Worry It's Always Good To Play With Friends And Just Go Into A Party.
