So as many of you may know the 2.4 firmware update for the ps3 was released. and to my supprise the use the xbox's idea of achivments and gamercards. to bad it crashing alot of consoles. so in a press release from the PSN boss Eric Lempel he poked fun at the xbox UI and the Arcade delisting that microsoft is doing to get rid of under productive games.
my personal thought is. i have never had a problem with the microsoft UI it can be quite annoying when going to the dashboard while loading a game. other then that it works for me. so i think this guy is just trying to blow of steam from the fact that abunch of conosles have to be reparied now because the new firmware update bricked them |

XBOX 360 has been more successful than PS3 for the most part. If I was representing the underdog, I'd be a little defensive too : /

the interface for live sucks...
and live arcade has so many crappy games. ms wants money from developers, not good games.

The firmware update didn't brick a lot of systems. It has been reported that it was a fairly isolated incident. The majority of people had no problems with it, but Sony is being safe.
As far as the Live interface sucking, give me a break. The interface is just fine. Live Arcade has some bad games, I'll admit that, but it also has some good ones. |

the interface is better then the ps3. looks like an oversized psp screen when you fire it up
couldnt come up with something more original. at least i get better online support with the 360 then the ps3 actually microsoft takes the money from the revenue of download content. just like the ps3 |

XBL is unorganized.. they can easily make their GOOD content easier to access.
XBL has a good game for every 10 horrible games. This is coming from someone who doesn't even own a ps3. It's a tough job trying to get your point across to a fanboy.

Yeah, Live is not organized as good as it could be, but it is still a relatively good interface. PS3's interface is exactly how Phinix described it, but that is not me flaming the PS3. I'm used to it, and I actually think they organized the PlayStation Store pretty good. I own both the 360 and the PS3 and I'm happy with both of them overall.

Uhh when did you start on Xbox Live, as someone who has been around since the Beta test back in '02, I have a fairly concrete perception that it is 1000 x better than before. Don't sound spoiled and just say it sux, You have the luxury of having all of those choices on LIVE. And what's good content and bad , doesn't it seem YOUR perception is YOUR reality Sonik (yeah I am talking to you, no quote needed).
Blu-Ray is the only thing to keep PS3 alive, they botched this release so bad, Sony recalled the head of SECA and shamed him all the way back to Japan. There will be no PS4 they way things are going for them. the PS3 reps were so cocky at the E3 before the release of the 360, saying the next-gen starts with them. I beg to differ, I never liked the idea that they put out a new system every 8 years with antiquated technology. the reason the PS2 sold so many units is because every one of them had to be replaced w/out warranties like we got. Microsoft has and always stuck to the business model that LIVE is where they make their profit ( BTW Microsoft Entertainment division, of which the XBOX brand falls under, FINALLY turned a profit last quarter, after 6 years in it. Microsoft committed 6 Billion to the XBOX project and stuck to their guns losing money the entire way. XBOX delivered on EVERY promise that they have ever said ; hi-def gaming, dolby digital 5.1 surround, dowloadable content, online gaming, etc.. and the was JUST THE ORIGINAL XBOX) No one has supported progaming like Microsoft and XBOX brand products. What tournament/gaming event has Sony EVER sponsored? Why isn't there a Socom tournament sponsored by Sony? Hell they publish the game don't they, I could be wrong. Athena just got her PS3 and I can't wait to play it, don't get me wrong, I love all systems and mostly racing and shooters w/ some platforming thrown in. But my loyalty and my money will always go to Microsoft (doesn't hurt to own stock in the products that you use or buy either, it's like paying yourself to use their products). Time for some gaming. Appreciate all the choices you have in life and the freedom to opine and wax unphilisophical on those choices. Out

Actually the uber expensive PS-X "japan only" ps-2 with large built in hdd that was an enthusist piece was where the XMB
began life but sony liked it so much they began using it as a template...this is why psp and now ps3 continue to use it. It's a very easy to understand and customizable interface. I have a background picture so it's not just black,on psp and ps3. If you'd seen the 360 dash update for the fall MS is SCRAPPING those blades for a more XMB style interface...check it out on 360 they should have the what's new tab and you can view a short trailer/run through of our future. Rare is ripping off both mii's and sony avatar's for microsoft. Whenever the update hits you'll see a new and inproved interface. |

Well double b i hate to remind you but for someone who hates
a new sys "every 8 years" ms does it every 4!!!! They prematurely killed xbox 1 and also prematurely released 360 so when i hear stuff about the next box in 2010 i'm not supprised microsoft has taken sega's spot as first out, first out of date. Just my observation....nintendo plays their own game so they don't count techwise...but between sony and microsoft only sony still activly markets last gen hardware. I was looking foward to a slimmer, trimmer and cheaper xbox 1 but the platform was dropped like a hot potato. Ms themselves will admit they left money on the table so i hope 360 is around,at least,8 yrs before 720 or xboxnext or whatever it's called. |

The Xbox Dashboard is functional but not streamlined. In other words, you can get where you want to be quickly enough, but it could be a smoother trip.
If you ask me, the dashboard could make do with a modular design. Highlight the features/options you want most and ditch those you rarely use. Also on this subject... the Guide itself could be a little more streamlined. As it stands, opening it in-game feels slow and "clunky." An option for minimalists like myself should be available. As in, strip it down to the bare essentials and ditch the background image. Halo 2's friends list was much easier to access because it wasn't so damned slow. |
