Summary:
Help allieve poverty around the world by loaning $25 to an entrepeneur. Invite link for a $25 credit for first-time lenders: http://www.kiva.org/invitedby/thejbru What's Kiva you ask? Kiva is an organization that makes loans to people around the world. They work with local banks to get low-interest loans to people who need them. Maybe they need to buy more goods to sell, or some extra money to take their business to the next level. Or maybe they want to fix a leaky roof, or expand their home to fit their growing family. Usually, the loans they need are small ($100, $200, $400 or so), and Kiva makes helping these people out even easier! You can loan as little as $25 (about what you'd pay for coffee for the week, eh?) and your money gets pooled together with others until the goal is met. Every month after you make the loan, a little bit is sent back to you until it's all paid back. Then you can withdraw it or loan it again! It's like being a billionaire philanthropist, but on a much smaller scale. If you want to give it a try, you can make a loan using someone else's money! Just follow this link: http://www.kiva.org/invitedby/thejbru And first-time borrowers will get a $25 credit they can loan. (It won't get paid back to you, but you can save up your own $25 for the next loan.) Here's my lender page on Kiva: http://www.kiva.org/lender/thejbru I've made 42 loans, of which 20 have been fully repaid. Taking a little out of each paycheck, I've been able to get enough loans going so that the repayments each month fund another loan! Have a look and if you're inspired to help others, just follow the invite link above and give it a try! |
