My lame xbox.

So, recently our xbox has been shutting itself off and turning itself on. It makes the beep as if you do it. When my boyfriend first told me about it, i was just like "yeah whatever quit messing with me. i know you're doing it". Then, while he was gone about an hour ago, it was just me alone and it did it. It turned itself on. And about 10 minutes ago, while my boyfriend was playing Gears 3, it shut itself off in the middle of a game he was in. And just now, as I was typing, it shut off and back on. Again, the only one in the room. It's too high up for my pets to get to it. I don't really want to buy a new xbox because it's so expensive. But we also don't want to send it in because that's also expensive, if not under warranty. Our warranty was up in November. What. The. Eff.

Maybe the room it's in is haunted. My grandpa's old house was. His worker brought over a ps2 and was playing it without the cord in the back of the thing i was like wtf... that's creepy.

It almost sounded to me like the touch panel was having a problem with shielding, or static buildup behind the panel. I heard of a similar case happening to some HP Laptop line that had a touch panel that would go all haywire and turn volume buttons on/off, and wifi touch button.

My laptop used to turn the wifi on and off. Idk what it's problem was, but it always irritated me. I'd be playing a game on my laptop and all of a sudden, it went offline. I just wanted to throw it out the window. But obviously, I didn't.

Idk what's wrong with my xbox. It still presses it's own buttons, but it hasn't shut itself on or off or opened the disc tray in a couple days. But yesterday I was playing Gears 3 with my bf, and it still beeped when it pressed the buttons. And I accidentally sat on a controller yesterday(it was in the couch), and it turned on, and... RED RING. for like.. the 7th time this week.

Is your Xbox the new slim-line model? With the touch panel up front?

If anything make sure its not the touch sensor thats messing up, i remember on my PS3 Fat (With the touch sensor buttons) It did it all the time if ANYTHING touched it/applied enough force (Reason why im glad push buttons were put in)
