I'm not even sure what to say. I just think it's going to get more people to think video games make people kill people.

Poor kid though. There's no way she could've known what she was doing. The charges are too lax in my opinion.

The girl had a broken arm 2 weeks before the incident in this story.. and apparently social workers had visited TWICE in that two week timeframe.. so there was obviously something other than the Xbox involved with the father (or the mother, perhaps, or another in the household?)'s problems.

Wow!!! The child had a broken arm and the mother didn't think this was a red flag?? Poor thing! Bad parenting..... thats all I have to say to that. Thank goodness they got the other child out of that situation before something terrible happened to the newborn.

The charges are much to light. Bull that he did it "just out of anger." What, did he expect the 360 would just bounce off of her and she'd continue to run off, or was he too set in the video game mind sense and think she'd respawn? I mean come on, the guy obviously has problems. People these days. Everyone just needs to sit back, relax, and enjoy life. Not abuse children with large electronic units.

Thats is horrifing and disgusting. For anyone to injure there own child is bad but to kill them over something petty as that they have to be on drugs or mentally ill. Now we will see a huge load of jouralists and lawyers eg jack thompson saying video games are evil and effect people negatively and they should be banned. But they never point out that is always a minority that paint things black for other people. If there was 12 or 13000 people doing this then i would say they have a point but its only rare cases that this happens. And that guy must have been mentally unstable.

That man obviously suffered from a deep form of hatred. This was not the first time he had been angry , especially repeated beatings anyone with love for there child or any human even pushed to utmost breaking limits would not have Repeatedly beat the child, he cracked her scull several times.

I like how they left out what game he was playing the "6-7" hours he played, I mean if he was playing raceing games or RPG what would that have to do with the violence that the poor baby endured. I think that fact that this man used and gaming console what ever it be to numb out his assistance, has nothing to do the deeper issue that he was and angry unhappy person and further more has nothing to do with x-box.

This is like back in the 90`s when a teenager killed his parents to the song of "pure massacre" written by silver chair, that also had nothing to do with the song but to do with the inner hatred this teenager had for his parents and not havening a way to let it out and be able to express his anger.

This is a msg to anyone whom is living with anger on a daily basis please seek out relief of your painful your self and for others that are around you and if you don't have the strength to change, ask for help. You may end up hurting the people around you, we all feel pain and anger and we need to find a positive fufilling way to let it out and express our displeasure with life and its circumstances..The heated moment will pass but did you do something that you might regret? always listen to your inner self telling you take a step back before its too late...

As a father of 3 and an avid gamer, I can't see how the guy could get that angry. I've had my 17-month old knock over my Xbox and ruin the gamedisk (what a pretty ring of destruction it makes on the disk when it gets popped out of the tray and keep spinning ), but after the initial shriek of shock, I just made sure to put my Xbox where he couldn't get to it. Of course, I then had to take a trek to Walmart and plop down another $60 for a new copy of the game, but hey, it was my fault for leaving the console where he could get to it.
I hope they don't try to blame video games for this, but instead look at the real problem: the guy's obvious anger issues. It had to be known that something was wrong in that house, otherwise he wouldn't have already had several visits from social workers. They don't visit random families out of the blue, you know. There has to be some good reason for them to even see you once, much less several times a month.
I play some of the most violent games out there, but I would never think of doing something like this. It's just inhuman.

This has nothing to do at all with gaming this guy had alot of problems. Storys like this honestly make me sick. How could a father ever do that to his child..... Some days you just have to wake up walk to the window and just ask why.......

that's all bad parenting, neglect. it has nothing to do with the xbox or gaming in general. people kill people, not xbox kill people. but canoscan has a good point.. because of this, people are going to have a different point of view on the xbox and the world of gaming and assume that he did it because of the game he was playing. and that's so sad to think of it that way when two weeks before the child was killed she reportedly had a broken arm and the mother did nothing about it. that makes my stomach turn to think that that's what that child had to go through. and now everywhere you turn, the newspapers, the internet, the headline of what this guy did is all revolving around the xbox 360. it's sad.

You guys/gals do not realize the fact that it is not the gaming that drove him to abuse his child. It was already happening before this incident.. neglect can easily be considered abuse and/or bad parenting. There were underlying issues that needed to be dealt with.. the gaming probably did not help (or did it?), but gaming is NOT what drove this man to do such a thing. Do not take the media's perspective in blaming gaming for this horrible happening.

Second.. Toxic, resize your sig, it is much too big for your signature. As per the rules, it must be smaller. Also, when the automatic-resize bar is active on it, you should know that it is beyond "normal" sizing.

I don't think anyone is. I'm not. All I was saying was that people might use this story to push their own videogame-hating agenda. I doubt someone on a forum dedicated to video games would thing that about something they enjoy, and I think all of us are informed enough to know video games don't make anybody do anything.
