No, they were downright terrible. I had two that completely stopped reading discs. Even with the N64, they had to address the shortcomings shortly after release my releasing that expansion pack that looked almost like a mini game cartridge that you had to put in the middle of the console for better graphics and processor speed.

360's 1st and 2nd generation would freeze a lot. Especially when playing Fallout. Even my xbox freezes on BF3 from time to time and it's the newer, sleek, black, shiny one.
