Recently broke up with my boyfriend. I was tired of him treating me like crap. I was tired of his drinking. He's basically an alcoholic. Tired of everything. Today he talks to me for the last time, trying to make me feel like crap. Know what? I don't. I don't feel like crap. He's blaming everything on me. I'm not going to take it anymore. I'm thinking more and more than I'm glad it's done. It's been over for months, but I made the step to make it official. It was a good 4 years but.. I just.. I don't know. I don't need it. I'm stressed out enough with college and trying to find a job. He wasn't supportive with my decision to go to college. He said it's too risky to go to college. Well duh. College is risky business, but I'm willing to take that risk to better myself. I'm willing to take that risk to be able to make a career out of my business IT degree. I don't just want some job. I want a career. If he won't support me, that's his problem. Not mine. Just whatever. I hope he has a good life. Wish him luck in whatever it is he decides to do with his life.

Good decision Melly, if hes not treating you right its unlikely he will change his ways. Stick to doing yourself better, get your degree, get a good job then worry about relationships.

Coming from someone who used to be "that guy" I will tell you that was the best thing you could have done. He'll be begging for you to come back. Keep to your guns, its really easy to fall back into it. If you do, he'll will lose even more respect for you. I know, cause that's exactly what I would have done and then blame you to boot!
Concentrate on school and a career. Guys will come and go, never rely on them to "take care of you". That's a one way ticket to heartbreak!
You are doing a great job! Keep it up!

I am glad that even after it all you are still able to wish him luck, it reflects well on yourself as a person. Lasting bitterness between people only causes further unhappiness in the long run. You are already off to a good start, I wish you the best of luck for whatever the future may bring!
