Thoughts on the recent MW2:PC news

No matter what I am going to purchase MW2 and I really like the idea of IWNET. But that is just me and I think IWNET and Dedicated Servers can work together but I have a hard time thinking that IW is going to bring dedicated servers on..The only reason why they are really doing this is because of the piracy MW went through. But maybe they can do an EA type move and have a licensing system for there servers instead of just releasing them. We shall see but either way I am getting the game...
as a developer I think they made the right move but that is just me...think about it instead of working extra hard on a PC version that is going to just get pirated anyways they ported the console version for the PC engine they worked extra hard on IWNET to keep the piracy down and what sales they can recover UP...they are already going to make enough money of console to not have to seriously worry about pc so any fix or addon they do to the PC version is going to be strictly because the community asked for it and they felt they could make extra time to do it. so dont get your hopes up on anything. BUT remember IW is not stupid they may do things that favor others or something that you dont like but at the end of the day its business....so dont expect much unless IW feels it will benefit there pocket book but there is always a chance that they understand "even the underdog makes a difference" even though pc sales are down and console sales are shooting through the roof due to accessibility.....maybe IW will see that the PC market is still a viable community that should be supported....STAY POSITIVE
--just to add when they say steam support they mean as a community type system...HOW many times have you wanted to kick xfire because you have to completely exit the game if you want to go into another server with a friend...well with steam you dont have to do that along with several other improvements....and 402 already said that they have not nor do I think the would make purchasable DLC for MW2.

Are you dumb? This is all about money and them wanting us to buy map packs for $10 a pop. iwnet is just like blizzard battle.net. They just want all the money to themselves and want to get rid of the differences between PC gaming and console gaming. If you buy this game you are pretty much telling activision that you dont like pc gaming and you like to let them walk all over you. IWnet is supposed to host tournaments, leagues,etc. They are just trying to screw XPL,cevo, twl out of money and especially the server providers. In one of his latest rants he said something about people just being mad because the server providers want money. If that isn't calling the kettle black, then I dont know what is.
And the piracy excuse is a bunch of BS. Most people cant pirate the game and play online. If they pirate the game they can only play on cracked servers which is pretty much pointless. All this talk of "for the average pc gamer' is a load of crap. how many people do you know that cant find a server on a browser? There are 30k servers, its not that hard to find a few to play on. when did losing millions of dollars become an excuse to cut down on Piracy...oh wait its a legitimate reason. I am glad they are getting rid of Dedicated servers sucks the mod community has to suffer but thats how it is. They will still be getting my money.
