Why does work have to be like High School?

I work for a rather large steel mill with lots of employees. Im going to be totally honest in saying that nearly all of the jobs within the mill are fairly laid back. I personally have a job that requires me to work about 3 out of 8 hours in a shift. Some days require me to work nonstop but they are extremely rare. On a daily basis I have to listen to a group of 30-60 year old men and women constantly belittle each other. Nobody can go an hour without saying something unkind about somebody else or complaining about the job. Some even go as far as to complain to management about co-workers just to further themselves. I think I just need to find a job that requires a lot more alone time. Is anybody elses work like this?

I'm currently serving in the Air Force, and the best way to describe the experience so far is High School. People are always going to find ways to pick at other people. People can't just get along for the sake of making things flow smoothly, and at the end of the day, go home to where things really matter.Posted 01-03-2013 at 08:15 PM by H2O Clueless
