The evening went pretty normal, but it took everything out of me not to tell my mom about the letter. She’s the one person that knows every little thing about me, of whom I’ve met in “real life”; it’s strange. I pretended to sleep at ten o’clock. Even if I tried to sleep there was no way I could because my mind was racing a million miles per minute.

An hour passed and I decided it was time to try to sneak out. This is the first time I have ever done this so I hope it works. I cracked the door to my bedroom slightly. Unexpectedly the door creaked. My eyes blew open. I took a deep breath; thankfully my mom didn’t wake up.

I gradually and gently slid the door shut. After a couple minutes of wrestling with the window, I finally was able to slide it open. I snatched the duffel bag from the back of my tiny closet and tossed it out the window onto a not so sturdy platform. I glided my white end table over to the window. Then I thought I heard my mom awaken. I froze for a moment in attempt not to make any sound, maybe it was just the wind.

I went to climb out the window feet first; that didn’t work so well because I almost fell back into my room head first. I realized that would make since because the platform is at the exact same height as the bottom of the window. In the second attempt I poked my head through the widow first, then my torso, legs, and feet. After sitting there for a while, and taking a deep breath, I finally grabbed the bag and tossed it to the ground. I turned over, to my hand and knees, and slid down the pole of the platform.

I snatched my phone out of my bag and saw that it was already 11:30. I freaked out for a moment; we have to be there in a half an hour! I retrieved my car keys from the same pocket and sprinted to my car. Good thing this town isn’t very big I was thinking to myself.

On the drive to my dad’s house my heart was beating so fast. Out of the blue my phone started to vibrate; it was Tyler.

“Hello” I said
“Where are you?” He asked
“I’m almost there.” I stated annoyed
“Hurry we have twenty minutes and dad just went to take a shower. He may stay up for a while and then I won’t be able to sneak out.” Tyler said anxiously
“I’m trying, but I keep hitting red lights. Where do you want me to pick you up?”
“Pull into the ally. Make sure your lights are turned off when you get here.”
“Okay I’m one block away get ready.”
“I’m leaving the house right now.”

I pulled into alley and quickly shut off my lights. It was pitch black, I couldn’t see anything at all. I hope I don’t crash into anything. I could faintly see someone waving right beside the huge green dumpster. As I pulled up, I figured out it was my brother. Thank god.

Tyler lobbed his extremely small bag into the back seat of the car. I guess guys don’t need that much to bring with him. I hope he remembered his deodorant; otherwise he’s going to be really smelly tomorrow. P.U. stinky! He hopped in the car and off we went. Brother and sister; mano y mano.

Since I’m directionally challenged, it took me a while to find the house. Thankfully we arrived there with five minutes to spare. We decided to creep around the house just in case it was some kind of practical joke, or if it was the wrong house. Sure enough there was a metal shed with two stalky men in black suits. They just stared straight ahead. My brother and I looked at each other and nodded.

He arose from his position and pulled me along with him. Once we were directly in front of the two awkward men Tyler curiously said “Hi.”

Suddenly a the voice of a robot lady said “Voice recognition approved”

The guy to the right stepped over to open the steel door. In front of us all we saw was a lengthy opaque hallway. We stepped inside as the door slowly creaked shut.
