WSVG/CPL Dallas

After testing the waters with a number of “extra-gaming” activities at The World Series of Video Games’ first stop in Louisville, the WSVG has announced more activities for the CPL Summer Championship. LANWAR, the Kentucky LAN operator, will operate the BYOC and its associated activities in Dallas.

BYOC activities will include Tug of War, a paper airplane contest, a case modding contest, Joust, and the ever popular Duct Tape Wars. The Dallas event will probably see a uniquely fierce strain of Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. In addition to the fully-subscribed Day of Defeat, presented by The Office Games, there will also be a series of World of Warcraft competitions presented by Blizzard, to be announced later this week. ClancyCon will return to the WSVG with its own dedicated area, as will LanX, the bring-your-own-Xbox party (where televisions will be provided). Given the great creativity and popularity of the Lego Competition, that feature will return. The seminar tracks will include “How to Break into the Video Game Biz” and will be expanded with other topics to be announced this week.

“The BYOC that LANWAR staged was one of the best parts of the World Series of Video Games’ inaugural event,” said Matt Ringel, CEO of Games Media Properties. “Many gamers asked us to include more of these activities at the upcoming CPL Summer Championship and we are looking forward to doing so. The BYOC is an incredible place to connect with friends to game, interrupted by periodic bouts of outrageous mayhem.”

One item under evaluation for returning to the Dallas event is the “Miss WSVG” competition. The Frag Dolls and PMS Clan had boycotted this event in Kentucky, but decided instead to take the stage with their own “Mr. WSVG” competition. The clans have stated that they plan to run another “Mr. WSVG” competition in Dallas. If this happens, and in order to be fair, the WSVG may feel compelled to run another “Miss WSVG” competition as well.

If you want to register for the BYOC pick the CLANCY CON SECTION!! IF you need a TV provided you MUST register for rows 9&10!

hehe yea KY was a BLAST, this event is so cool because they have SO MUCH to do there. A ton of activites and things going on non stop. Definaltly the funiest event i have ever been too :P

heh actually i plan to sit in the core i tend to sit there and not with my clan at the bigger more important events.. you know, they kinda like to have us network admins sitting next to our hardware in case it goes "boink"

not that it really matters anymore at lanwar in general, my old clan more or less is non existant now anyways so sitting with them is a nonissue...

Due to the overwhelming response of their on-line qualifiers on Xbox Live, Xbox in conjunction with the World Series of Video Games (WSVG) is offering a special promotion for their Xbox competitions at the WSVG events. Committed to bringing as many Xbox players to the WSVG and to continue to build the immense Xbox community, Xbox has arranged pre-registration for Xbox and Xbox 360 tournaments and a WSVG Xbox T-shirt to be priced at $15 per person per event (this only gets you into the Xbox tourney). LAN-X, the bring-your-own-Xbox component of the event will still be priced at $65 for the LANWAR event (June 15-18) and $80 for the CPL event in Dallas (July 5-9). Registration fees include participation in the LAN-X event, entrance into one of the competitions and a WSVG Xbox T-shirt.

Xbox competitions at the World Series of Video Games will include Halo 2 (4v4 on ver. 1), Project Gotham Racing 3 (1v1 on 360), and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (2v2 on 360). There are over $200,000 in cash and prizes being awarded for these Xbox competitions.

so... my flight tonight was canceled due to weather.. aparently all flights into DFW after 6pm were....

and every flight tomorrow up untill 5:45 was booked... so yeah... im taking the same bloody flight tomorrow night... you have any idea how pissed I am? we spent 2 and a half hours sitting on the tarmac before they decided to cancel the flight.. whats worse is that had they taken us off the plane rather than leave us there, we would have been in the terminal to hop the chicago flight at at 7 and then take a connecting dallas flight that was specialy permitted to land extra JUST to accomodate OUR flight... but no luck since we were halfway across the tarmac sitting in UPS's parking lot....

hope you all that made it on time today are having fun.. .party it up tonight for me extra hard, and ill see you all in the late evening i guess... around 8:30 :( *sigh* i hate my life.... this has been a comedy of tradgegdy the last few days... im feeling kinda emo now...

I'm glad that digital life is a drive instead of a flight, but i'm thinking that if i can get in to CES i'll have to be planning way ahead of time for decent flight prices (heck, same with any events in the future eh?)

That's the only thing keeping me from going to PAX. While the price for my flight wouldn't be as high as that, it would be high enough that I really can't afford to go when you take into account the rest of the costs. I could fly to Orlando for MLG Orlando or New York for Digital Life for much less.

yeah, the weather is kind of bad here, or was earlier I guess...my mom was supposed to fly in from tampa at 5:30 and her flight was cancelled too.

actualy no we didnt purchase them, we partnered them with a licensing agreement to use their event... its messily different. cpl is still cpl and wsvg is still wsvg, we just bought out the rights to hold our event in place of theirs... weird i know.
