Assistance/Advice on Sigs

So I tried my hand at making a couple GRFS themed sigs for myself. Not sure how much I like either of them, cause I know for a fact they both could be tons better (just that I currently don't have the skill/know-how to get it done).

If you are looking for good tutorials on how to use GIMP, check out GimpTricks a channel on youtube. She doesn't necessarily do signature tutorials, but she gets you comfortable doing some different techniques that you can use when making sigs. She has taught me everything I know about making sigs =D Hope that helps. =D

Only thing I really don't like about them is that they look a little too plain in the middle around my name. That will change once I finish my recruitment, but for now they look a little blah.

Trying to make the "Tom Clancy's" & "Future Soldier" text pop out a little better

Seems I'm still tweaking it, trying to add more without making it look over crowded...

I like it, but it still needs some tweaking. I was mainly trying to focus on the textured background image I made, trying to see how it blends and works with my text/renders. Here's the textured background I made that I'm working with:

You are definately getting better... I think that the sig that you and Marine are using look pretty awesome! Just be carefule on your text. I have found that the fancier the text is the harder it is to read it. I found a really cool one on Dafont It is called Varsity Playbook. It is the text that I used on my current sig.

Also remeber that your sigs can only be 500 x 150 and I think like 750 kb... You will get an infraction if they are larger.

The text that I did on the one that I'm working with kinda looks hard to read mainly cause I made it beveled with a chrome effect, then turned it a shade of GR blue. which almost blends too well with my background.

u can add gt in the flash from muzzle as 1 possible thing to do with it, lol

Ya was thinking of maybe making the muzzle flash a little larger/longer and adding a GT in there. Or maybe making a wall behind him and adding the GT as a "tag" on the wall. Dunno so many things running through my head. Guess I'll just keep rendering images until I get bored with that then I'll start making something with them.

I really like the way that you are utilizing the turret... However I think it would be better with the text that is on the other one... But other than that it looks cool

I kinda like the new chrome/metallic text over the old text mainly cause it is still readable, and not as plain/simple as the one in my current sig.

All I use is GIMP with all my stuff. In regards to the names they were actually just a simple click to get those effects:

1.) Filters -> Alpha to Logo -> Particle Trace

2.) Filters -> Alpha to Logo -> Frosty

I was just seeing what the different "Alpha to Logo" options would do to my text, the "Neon" option looked pretty cool as well, gonna try and see if I can make it an animated text next.

If you figure out the animation before I do... PLEASE let me know how to do it! I have been trying to figure out how to add animation sparkle and stuff like that to my sigs, but I can not...
