Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. On the Xbox 360, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to a USB port may alternatively be used.

Turn on the Xbox console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.

Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.

Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If the wireless router uses WEP encryption, set up this option on the Xbox or Xbox 360. If the wireless router uses WPA encryption, set up this same option on the Xbox 360.using the same encryption key as on the routerBecause the Xbox does not support WPA encryption, it cannot connect to a wireless router with WPA enabled; you must disable WPA encryption on the router to use it with an Xbox.

Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen will display whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router. The Connect Status screeen on Xbox will display whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

Sometimes, when you set up your router to your computer people dont set a security password.

But if there is a security setting on ur router you would have to ask the person who set up the router.

But thats all you need. And no problem! ;)

Ok my big brother lol, but chances are he won't tell me, so I will have to figure it out

LOL, thats sucks! Here try this.

Try setting that setting at no security setting, and then try to get on. If it dosnt let u online, then it definatly does have a security setting on it.

No I know there is one because my brother would get mad at me and change something so I couldn't get on my comp wirelessly. But also because for my last xbl router he set up there was one and I just don't know what the security setting is for it. But thanks for all your help Venom, if I have any more questions I will hit you up

I hope I'm not too late, but I had the same problem with the Microsoft one. I was able to find the connection through my house (and some other houses:hacker: ) and it asked for a WEP key. I found it on the bottom of my 2Wire Gateway, so whatever router you're using, it might be listed on it somewhere. Hope that helps:D

I have no clue what any of that means

just look at your router or whatever you're using for a 5-10 digit code or a 13-26 digit code. mine was under the serial number.

Well maybe I can lend a hand here.

You said that you have a Linksys router correct? If so maybe your brother didnt change the password from the default settings. What you can do is at least give them a try. If you dont know them there pretty basic.

Open up your Web Browser what ever you use and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1. You should then have a pop up appear on your screen. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a355/Mitsuboy1102/Login.jpg

On that screen in the password area type in admin. Then click OK.

If that works then your brother didnt set up a different password and you can find the key that you are looking for. To do that you will need to click on the wireless tab. Then click on the Wireless Security Tab.

On the screen you should then have all the info that you are going to need. Such as your wireless security key and what type of Wireless security the router is using.

Hope that this helps at least a little
