actually a very good question, that I will answer in a long-winded statement.
Grass is green because grass is a plant. Plants photosynthesize. Photosynthesis requires light energy to make food for the plant to use, and the pigments on the plant (the things that take in the light) absorb every color except green, which is why plants are green. So in a very short version, Plants are green because green is the color least able to be absorbed by pigments on plants during photosynthesis, which makes it the only color that is reflected on the plants surface, and because grass is a plant, grass is green.
This is for the person wondering why grass is green.

(oh, and whoever asked why their eyes hurt when they look at the sun, the answer is because your eyes are filled with a liquid, and the heat of the sun's rays directly going into your retinas heats that liquid, and then your eye cells start to burn away. Don't worry though, every time you wake up in the morning your eye cells are burnt away, just by looking into light for the first time when you wake)

Nope. A single volcano of that size can't do it. Now if it were to keep erupting and creating more of them then it is possible. But the timeframe doesn't allow for that to be happening for who knows how long.
