In protest of SOPA (U.S. Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protest-IP Act) and supporting numerous businesses and friends in the industry, our website (pmsclan.com) will be going black for 24 hours starting at Midnight tonight. We will return in approximately 24 hours. For more information, please visit SOPAstrike.com and AmericanCensorship.org.

Thank you all for your support and understanding as we joined our partners to bring awareness to SOPA and PIPA. PMS Clan, Inc. strives to lend its community to causes dear to the community.
We know that there wasn't a ton of notice that was given, but it wasn't by design. We had virtual conversations on whether or not we should be demonstrative and we had to coordinate with our technology team to make site changes. When possible, we give notice and will give notice as timely as appropriate for the situation. (In this case, doing a blackout - say next week - wouldn't have supported the point.) We completely appreciate that many of you were nimble and rolled with it - a skill that I promise will be valued in your lives outside of the clan.
However, we hope that it brought a pause for the cause. The site being down for a day is a minor inconvenience as opposed to what could happen if these bills pass in the state they are in.
Piracy isn't condoned by us; but the amount of restriction would make it so that many sites that we love would cease to be able to function.
The best description I saw was on twitter: Under SOPA, you could get 5 years for uploading a Michael Jackson song, one year more than the doctor who killed him.
Again, thank you for the support. Relish the forums and our current freedoms with them.

I know that alot of state reps withdrew their support of the bill. I know for a fact that the Missouri rep, my state rep, withdrew his. As well as the rep of Arkansas. It's hitting some of the people in Congress that support it. It made some kind of impact, at least.

The bills won't pass. this thread is not irrelevant because everyone deserves an opinion but honestly. Think, would a bill like this actually pass if these congress members wanted to get re-elected. And if it does pass. It will basicly be your prohibition act type scenario. It won't be permanent. So don't worry about it. Just my personal views on things though. Not trying to start any arguements ^^

From what I've been reading apparently the mass of congress are for this vote. My state though my representatives and senators are against it...

Only a DAY after so many sites took part in the protest, one of the largest sites for uploading content has been shut down the the US Congress. If anyone like me, watches their movies or TV shows online because they have too busy a life to watch them when they're released and you use the infamous MegaVideo... well now its GONE.

Unfortunately one of my State Reps is cosponsoring SOPA but I did spend all of yesterday Twittering my representatives and posting on their facebooks that I am against it. I also signed the petition against it. If you haven't signed it I urge you to.

The bills themselves are unconstitutional and they would severely hurt the global economy since a lot of people buy things off the Internet from sites like Amazon. If the government had any common sense, the bills will not pass... but then again, as my favorite president (Ronald Reagan) once said, "The government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them."

Interesting video... I think it's a great idea to pull out from E3 until ESA stops supporting SOPA. I will be sending some tweets/emails out about this for sure...

I agree it's an excellent idea. They also have a petition you can sign telling the ESA that you won't support it or E3 until it changes it's stance.

I can understand why they shut down this website. It has been used to share stuff illegally for god knows how long because they dont police what people place on their site. Everything from movies, music, games, ect. I would think they would of been warned they were in violation before it came to that but who knows. As for watching TV shows online I personally am against websites placing TV shows up for watch which usually have them edited without commercials which is what keeps those shows and networks alive to be able to keep making them. I think thats the main reason alot of TV shows have their episodes available on their websites with mandatory commercials so they still get something for their product. Of course you could be like me and DVR everything and fast forward through the commercials ;).

I'm happy that SOPA and PIPA has been pulled...It's a violation against what our country believes in.The government and congress should rethink their plan and try something else that doesn't attack us gamers or websites that support gaming.

Well one of the points the SOPA and PIPA bills were introduced was because watching content online was pulling away from the entertainment industry. Now, I can't speak for everyone, but last year, I went to see over 50 movies in the cinemas alone and purchased over $500 worth of movies/television seasons - my total collection being over 1000 disks, all of which are the real copies, not cheap bootlegs. So I contribute far more than my share to the industry :P However, DVRs are expensive, and even if I were to somehow acquire one, I sure as heck wouldn't be allowed to use it. For movies, I totally see where you're coming from, I barely watch movies online because the quality is simply horrid. If I had to watch Avatar or Black Swan online, I would cry. But TV shows are different, if I can't watch them at the times they air (which I rarely can because I am so busy) then if I didn't have online, I would have to wait until they were released on DVD, which is months and months later, by which time every single one of the friends would have spoiled every second of it. Not to mention, that TV seasons are expensive when they're released, unlike movies whose prices I can live with. And as for watching the shows on the channel's websites, well, I'm Canadian! And if there's one thing that drives me to the brink of insanity is that nearly every single one of my shows is American or only viewable on an American website, which of course I don't have access to. So its not the commercials that bother me at all, I don't mind commercials, its just that there's not enough time for me to sit down for at least ten hours a week to keep up with my 40+ shows that I follow. Luckily, half of those shows are winter/summer seasons while the others are spring/fall seasons, but its still not enough time.

Unless the USA becomes a communist country.. bills like this wont pass. Like I have said before in my earlier posts. the people who are proposing their retarded bills aren't thinking clearly before they propose it. honestly, most of these guys don't know anything about the IT areas of the world. But back on track to what I was saying. These bills will be proposed but never passed because this is a job for these women and men. You pass a bill like this and you lose your job. It's that simple. To be honest most senators and representatives that have supported the bill have probably already lost plenty of votes for the next election just from outraged voters. Keep the pressure on your reps and you'll never face the bill becoming law.

So everyone knows, the PIPA bill was "shelved" due to the amount of protests by big industries on the 18th.

Bills taking away freedoms and rights like this HAVE passed. NDAA passed earlier this month (allows the government to detain American citizens without trial should they be suspected of terrorism). Before the blackout and SOPA became more mainstream, more representatives were for the bill than against. This is due to a bunch of lobbying and millions of dollars from Hollywood and the music industry.
The fact is... most Americans don't keep up with politics and every bill going through congress.
Also the majority of Americans just look at the major issues at the time and candidate's stances on those issues. But money is what allows those candidate to even reach the ballot and some of the money comes from people who lobby to have bills like ACTA / SOPA / PIPA. The fact is, people stopped and websites stopped this bill dead in its tracks instead even letting it have a chance.
I appreciate that the PMSclan.com participated in this.
