View Full Version : MMO Rules (SWTOR, WoW, etc.) - playing with friends outside of the clan

Hi all,

With the launch of SWTOR, I thought it was important to clarify some important clan rules involving MMOs. These rules are in place for numerous reasons and have evolved as the clan has evolved with MMO games as divisions.

If you are playing an MMO on a server that PMS|H2O has a presence on, you are expected to be in the PMS guild - with all toons and alts - or it will be considered competitive clanning. We understand that you may have groups of friends that are not part of the clan playing and wish to play with them so the best thing to do is the following:
1) make sure that if you are playing with friends, that they are not on a server that we are on (though we will be sad that you aren't playing with us... /sad panda face)
-or-
2) have your friends join the clan!!! What a great opportunity to bring more people in!!!

For SWTOR, we are currently on servers Mind Trick and Sword of Ajunta Pall. Keep in mind, sometimes, server transfers also take place and that may result in a decision at a later time.

If you wish to play with friends on a server that we have a presence on, unfortunately, you will have to make a decision on whether or not to stay with the clan - just like if you were joining a competing organization. Again, there are many reasons why we have put these rules in place and they have been put in place due to specific incidents that have occurred with clan members and fellow guidies in other guilds attacking PMS|H2O.

I know some people may also think that they can 'hide' the fact that they are in another clan. Let me assure you, this is an unwise decision. It ALWAYS comes out - sometimes as an accident and sometimes because people get upset and choose to out you. If you are found to be in another clan when you knowingly went against the rules, you will probably be subject to disciplinary actions and clan removal.

There are more rules about factions, practice hours, etc. but we will leave those to the specific divisions to educate you as you join.

As always, we LOVE having people in our community and our hope is that you will bring them here to play with us. If you find that you cannot, then we hope that you respect the decisions the leadership of the organization (all generals and executive staff unanimously) has put in place to continue to evolve our brand and family.

If anyone has any questions on this, please let me, the PC Generals or the SWTOR / MMO division leaders know.

Appended by Ticorah PMS:

We understand that Bioware has assigned specific servers for pre-launch guilds, but the rule is still in place.

Could you break down which server is running which factions and playstyles?

Currently, Mind Trick is Republic PVE. Sword of Ajunta Pall is Sith PVP.

The Sith PVE division is just beginning, was not part of pre-launch guild management and the server has yet to be decided upon.

what if you are on the PMS|H2O server but aren't in it, nor in any other guild at that point. Idk, seems that should be clarified in the rules.

There are exceptions from time to time, but I would question why someone is playing on a server that we exist on and is NOT part of the guild?

I can really think of only 2 reasons that would occur: 1) would be to level (which I don't know why you would do outside of the guild unless it involved things the guild couldn't help with, in which case, we have a rule for that which we supply on a case by case basis) or 2) there is some kind of disciplinary reason you aren't in the guild - which probably results in a suspension (no dual clanning still applies) or ban (irrelevant because the ban was earned, and therefore would not break the rules.)

Can you provide other reasons that I may not be thinking of?

not really no.

i was just saying, it's a possibility of occuring, and that person wouldnt know if it was ok or not. just an added note that doesnt really hurt to be there is all

Look....as an old WoW member I can attest that this is in no way a new rule and has existed for about two years in PMS Clan after testing many variations of it. I can give you 100 positive reasons for its existence and maybe 5 negative ones. At this point, it is handled like the wow division. It especially sucks because preformed guilds were put on servers of not our choosing. However, your friends shouldn't mind starting level one on a different server if it gets you out of a jam. This rule positively effects PMS as a clan whole and is not bendable in any way after the drama we have seen in other mmo divisions.

The plan is to hold a town meeting if you will. I will attend with any other generals who wish to be present and we can positively asses all problems, questions, concerns of being a member in PMS|H2O and our presence in an MMO community. Right now we will shoot for Friday at 8PM EST. This will be an open forum and no complaints will go unheard provided they are in a constructive well thought out manner. You may address anything from Guild chat to the rule above and I will explain to you rules and expectations PMS Clan Inc has in order to make a positive game playing experience for all members.

Just wondering which WoW servers PMS is on and is it focused on end content or casual? I'm a Halo member now but used to play WoW and might be starting my WoW back up soon so I have been wondering. Thanks!

This is also why I quit playing WoW, when I played I belonged to my Local Hobby Shops guild on Illidan as a Horde, I may go back to WoW again (It still is fun) but MMORPG's are not my thing anymore :)

Is there any current plans for the Swtor div to move to any different servers? and if either to Sith or republic parts of the div were to move would there be an announcement? I'd hate to run on a different server with my RL friends and find out there's a clan guild on it and I broke the rules.

We are waiting to see what server the PVE Sith division comes up on.

I'm sure there will be an announcement if movements occurred.

How about this? No more woulda, coulda, shoulda this or that happen when the moon is in the 7th sky on lunar eclipse evenings....

Just read the rules. If a situation arises, we will deal with it; but know the rules as they are stated today.
