Hey, Srry if this is already posted I didn't see another topic about it though.
What do you guys think about Rainbow six vegas Vs GoW?
I think within a year GoW will die down and take over because GoW is fun for the first while but people are gonna get bored of it because soon they will have beat story mode many times, Its only 4 v 4 and not very many game modes. I love the levels but if they expanded and add more then 8 players per game it might stand a chance for longer. I think GoW is gonna hit a point where very few people are gonna wanna play.
I think Rainbow six Vegas will go higher that GoW because Rainbow six already had a big fanbase and for RS it just keeps growing and growing. Not to mention the variety of Game modes, Good story mode, Extensive levels and 16 per game. This game will last a long time.
What are your opinions?

Vegas aint anything special especially since it looks nowhere as good as GoW and it has no online co-op that is like GoW where someone can be invited to play as you are playing.

Ya but people aren't gonna keep playing for co-op. After you do co-op like 20 times you would probably turn to multiplayer and multiplayer imo gets boring after the first week or two. Also ya the GoW graphics are better then Rainbow six but people dont play for graphics. Well most people dont. I think the graphics add to it, But overall, You dont play a game for graphics, You play it for gameplay, Storyline, Etc..

IMO out of the choice of the two GeOW wins hands down. i dont have vegas, but i have both the single player and multiplayer demo's and i'd have to say as me being a r6 vet, it really really sucks. adding the GeOW looking around corners BS was a bad idea. r6 should not be like that.
IMO they both wont go very far, but r6:v will go less, it did have a very big fanbase, me included, but thanks to this game, and the past 2 games, i have lost complete interest in the game, and im sure other old fans of the r6 series have lost interest in it as well. GeOW was expected to be good, so people will play it for a long time, r6:v was expected to do mediocre thanks to the past 2 games, and i think it's living up to that standard.

Right now your right, Gow wins hands down. But I say give it 6 months to a year and R6 will still be growing. Black arrow was a let down, but everyone is saying that Vegas was the game to bring the series back up. so in IMO thats what it probably do. But I have almost no doubt that Gow will drop within the next 7 months.

I think both games will have plenty of life. They are both going to be in pro tournaments, and they both already have a lot of people playing them online. GoW could die off eventually because of the lack of any modes beyond Team Deathmatch modes, but I think it will last until Halo 3 comes out. As far as RB6 goes, you'll have your devoted fans that stick with it for a while like GRAW, but one has to wonder how long it will last after GRAW 2 comes out. In other words, I don't think either will die in the immediate future.

not really. like i said before, i played the r6 series back a looong time ago, it was my first xbox live game, and i love that game, and the past games that have come out have dissapointed me soo much i dont even want to bother with the game. Vegas IMO wont bring the series back up, its a completely different game, the hiding behind walls thing, the "innovation" which is terrible and they did a bad job at it.

i think every single 360 game will die when halo3 comes out. pretty much just like halo2.

Not entirely. Will Halo 3 immediately take over as the top game? No doubt about it. Even with Halo 2, there were other games that had a fairly devoted following (Ghost Recon being one that comes to mind).

GoW personally and I can judge as I own both R6:V and Gears.
Out of the 2 I prefer Gears' single player story and Gears' multiplayer, sorry for any R6 fans out there but thats my 2 cents.

I think RB6 is good, even if I suck at it online. :) I prefer the gameplay of GoW though. While I like both games, they both seriously need a patch.

I have both, and I play gears way more than I play Rainbow...
More people play Gears, its way more fast paced (though not as fast paced as most fps games), and its just more fun (and frustrating) than rainbow. I have found that when I play Rainbow, my character gets owned because Im not a liutenant like everyone else. I dont think its fair, that if I dont play as much as the next person, that I will get pooped on. But, I do have a special place in my heart for Rainbow. I became a part of H2O way back when Rainbow Six: 3 came out, so I will continue to play it.

Technically, it's not supposed to matter how high of a level you are. You'll get fancier stuff, but it's all supposed to be equal. I haven't played enough to level up much to verify though.

The higher rank you get, you get more weapons and armor. Thats true and that can be an advantage. But to me it doesn't matter, A private 2nd class can still beat an elite, Most of the ranks you only get camos and accessories and with every weapon theres a disadvantage, Ranks were made to make it more realistic, To make people want to play more to get higher ranks so they can get more weapons and armor. All it does is give you a selection, Its not an advantage.

I'm brand new here, so I don't hold much credibility, but seeing as both games hold a lot of love for me, I think I'll chime in.
First of all, I want to stress that I think that Vegas was the best thing to happen to Rainbow Six. I've been a R6 player on the PC since R6 3, and I'm extremely happy with how Ubi put it together. Using the lessons they learned with GRAW looks to have paid off nicely, with AI, graphics, control, and squad command all being greatly improved.
With that said, I'm having trouble justifying purchasing it. In my opinon, the greatest strength Gears has is its fluid control. Roadie running, diving in any direction quickly, automatically jumping from one piece of cover to the next, and the general feel seems to have been so carefully perfected that it all just makes sense. I'm sure it's different for others, but the fluid logic of the button placement and functions is amazing to me.
Having come out of a few weeks of GoW, I tried the Vegas single player demo again, as I wanted to get another taste of it before I headed out to EB to buy it. What I played in that demo showed me just how much better Gears' control is, at least for me. Again, it's all preference, and small things like how you have to hold down the trigger to stay in cover in R6, as opposed to a single button press in GoW, will appeal to different people. I can't stand having to hold down a button; I just want my character to stay on his own. Others will appreciate the knowledge that as long as they're holding that trigger, their character will not move, no matter what.
I guess this is all moot, since GoW is so fast paced and close-range, where Vegas stresses stealth and precision. Now that I think about it, I actually dislike Vegas' control scheme so much that I feel a little resentment. Honestly, I'd probably have purchased it already if it wasn't so odd, from my logic. I'm tired of throwing grenades accidentally! :P
With that in mind, can anyone who has the full game confirm whether the buttons are remappable or not? That may be the deciding factor in my purchase... Gears is my game of choice, but I'd love to get some Vegas in now and again. :D
With regards to multiplayer dying, just because you got tired of Gears' multi in a week doesn't mean that's the same for everyone. With the support that both games are getting (and the obvious expansion packs for both), I can't see either dying. Both have very unique playstyles, and even with Halo 3, I think both will have solid player bases. Heck, I can't stand Halo 2's multiplayer, but I love Gears', and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Halo 3 will come and take plenty of gamers' time, but to say that either of these unique, AAA titles will die in a matter of months doesn't seem likely.
Alright, that's enough out of me!
EDIT: To anyone who plays Gears: send me an invite any time! I love playing, but my friends list is largely barren. 'Tis a tragedy.

I would have to say your right, Its about perception. The main difference between GOW and RB6 is Realism. I mean, Personnally I love both fiction or reality. The difference is, In gow, Yes you can roadie run and dive in different directions, But in real life you can run that fast and spin to another cover, Or dive and roll in a direction. And in real life there aren't mad locust alien creatures coming out of the ground :p
Where as in RB6, its more realistic, As the story line is, In real life you can rapple down a rope and climb out a window or snake cam under a door. I think that is the difference between the RB6 lovers and the GOW lovers.
But personally.... I am both :D
And later on I will send you an FR. Cya

That's true; GoW is pretty unrealistic in ways. While running from one piece of cover to the next is, of course, perfectly legitimate (same with 'Roadie Running'), the diving in any direction that I love so much really couldn't be done with that kind of armor, and even without, it'd be pretty danged difficult.
Also, I tried more of Vegas, and now that I'm getting more used to the control scheme, I'm starting to warm up to it. I doubt that I'll be able to hold off from purchasing it for much longer! :D

I love both games, but for some reason only really play RB6V online with so many different game types it can be a little more fun than GOW. Attack and Defend and Retrieval are hella fun. But some maps are a little one sided like Calypso Casino. Hopefully they will release more maps in the future. My 2xPennies

i think that both games have longevity but it just depends on personal preference. do you like runa nd gun with a hint of tactical or do you like the down and dirty tactical all the time ? yes the graphics are better and maybe a bigger team would help with gow but rainbow six has so much going on at once your xbox would blow up if it had better graphics. i ersonally didint like rainbow because i like the chainsaw and locusts. but my husband loves rainbow because of the military tactics. so pretty much i think it is who you are and what you like!

I think GOW has a good chance to grow to haloish proportions. It's the second fastest selling game ever, and the fatest selling 360 game. Live subsriptions have jumped 50% since it's release. It's drawing alot of Halo fans (which will end up being more of a curse than a blessing which is why a well cultivated friend's list is so crucial to a fun Live experience, but I digress.) It's just got alot of addictive qualites. There's something for everyone. You can have some success playing tactically, or with a more "run and gun" style.
Plus there's just something really addictive about a 42" screen covered in blood :p

Quality R6 games always have longevity over games that are all about graphics.
Looking forward to more weapons, maps and unlockables in Vegas.
Anyone seen the pink Frag Doll/Kimi camo, yet? I saw a guy wearing it and he looked like Fudge Ripple Pepto-Bismol. lol
I've made Master Sergeant, so far.
I don't have GoW, but I outgrew SciFi shooters once Rainbow Six 1 came out on the PC. The exception to this is the occasional Unreal Tournament demo or Halo, both because of their superior A.I.
It's really all about the A.I., not about the graphics.
Vegas also has excellent A.I.

In my opinion i dont think that you can really compare these 2 games since they are totally different games lol. GOW is more like GRAW than anything so i think those 2 games would be comparable since they are both third person & uses alot of the same strats. Although ill say the old recons pwn all lol jking.
The only thing you really need to know when buying these 2 games is the following:
GOW is more futuristic gory Third person shooter that is extremely fun.
R6:V is a tactical FPS which is realistic and has unlockables.
But like i stated be4 the game you should really compare this to is GRAW 2 when it comes out.
Im not going to pick one or the other i think they both are pretty good games ill be w8ting for halo 3 myself since they are finally brining back halo 1 elements to it woot!

I prefer GoW and the reason is becasue the game's multiplayer is better IMO. There are problems that still need to be fixed like voice glitching when people quit or get dropped but overall there is a better overall playing experience.
I'm coming from the opinion that more players doesn't always equal a better playing experience and I'm kind of disgusted with Ubi for continuing to make games that are more comparable to Hollywood movies than real life tactics. I think RS:V is definately an improvement over Lockdown, however in trying to make the game more accessible I feel that they alienated a lot of the hardcore play of RS3/BA. I will give them credit for listening to gamer's complaints about including more options from the single player game into the multiplayer actiion but I don't think a lot of it will continue to be used (like the rappeling or Fiber optic cams) once you get to higher level competition in tournaments. I HATE the cover system, how you can see people coming, and most of all how you are more accurate when using it. If anything you should be less accurate as if you were shooting in real life you would have to acquire sight picture, aim, and then fire your weapon. Also the movement from this would make you less accurate. Another gripe is that the weapon stats are way off for some of the weapons (MTAR21 is stronger than a SCAR-H CQC?) and it seems like using anything other than a SMG is useless as the recoil is much stronger. The multiplayer maps are too large IMO but that is a personal gripe and I feel that GoW just does CQC better than RS:V which was always it's purpose. I always preferred Rainbow Six to Ghost Recon but now I think Ghost Recon is the better of the series now and RS:V is a BIG step back from GRAW in terms of everything.
All said I think both will have longevity and I do have fun playing RS:V with friends, but pretty much every game is fun with friends. I hope no one reads too much into all of my opinions but I'm a military dude and I tend to be a harder critic when it comes to authencity of military shooters.

Personally, I really enjoy Rainbow Six.
I own both, but for some reason GoW got old REALLY fast. I dunno why...
And in Rainbow Six you can create a GIRL! Even if the girls look pretty butch, it's still a plus for me. And it has a ton of different modes for multiplayer. I don't even really play the story mode and I haven't even tried all the multiplayer crap yet. There's just a ton of crap to do. So yeah. Rainbow Six for me.
Even if GoW had the really cool transexual aliens with the flowy skirts. Those were kick ***.
GOW makes you take cover and makes u think wat ur next is gonna be. Rainbow:Vegas seems like it also makes u take cover but u can go and just spray and get some good cover that way. I'd go GOW.
Whoa. Um. I think you have the switched around. :]
In GoW, I could run around with a shotgun and spray everyone and I rarely ever thought about my next move and never took cover. Plus the health was forgiving.
In Rainbow Six I'm constantly dying (but maybe that's cause I suck) and I'm always taking cover.
So yeah.

I own GOW and have yet to play Vegas but it seems to me by saying that Vegas will last longer just because the map is bigger, more variable and more people can play is kind of crazy. (No Offense.) Games die. No matter what. I played Black Hawk Down for a long time. Then Gow came around and I litterally packed up my XBOX. True it had more maps. It allowed for way more people to play but eventually like Vegas eventually will and probably GOW another game will take it's place and the days of GOW and Vegas playing will be just a memory.=)

I liked the feel of RB6:V, however the graphics and controls don't really do it for me. So yes GoW is the game for me. As for the multiplayer...just wait for GoW II and GoW III. I don't think well see a RB6:V II, or III for that matter, anytime soon.
