Really they are all pretty good. Al long as you can route ports (they all do this), so you can port forward if you need too. Also if the router supports QOS (quality of service) then you can set you game console or PC to take priority over the rest of the internet traffic or over your room mate that is addicted to streaming tv/movies :mvclap:

Hope this helps! Post if you have questions.

PS ALWAYS ALWAYS game over a hard line. Friends don't let friends game over WIFI. :mvpmsh2o:

Never heard of QOS, but I am going to be sure the next router I get is going to have it ;)

Can't agree with you more about gaming on WIFI.

Id say look at the N600 from Netgear, WNR3700 model.

I have a Netgear N300 WNR2000, and ever since I purchased this router, we haven't had a single problem, with it whatsoever.

Personally, I think it just depends on what's already been said: The allowed ports, and also your Internet Speed.

I've kickin it at 12Mbps I believe, and it's the highest available in my area. Use be using 7mbps, and it lagged like no other.

Those speeds have no affect on latency, keep that in mind. Sure it's nice to have some faster net so you can do more, but even if you had 1Mbit... you would get the same ping/latency as 20Mbit, assuming your company isn't a complete crock of **** with a crappy local node. You should notice an improvement however when switching from cable to fiber optic if you are lucky enough to have it in your area :P

I picked the N600 for the OP due to the Wireless abilities including N capabilities(NOT Draft-N) along with a Gigabit wireless port so your router will not be bogged down if you do numerous things over wifi (Crappy wireless routersthat people grab from places like Walmart, etc. are horrid and they dont like wireless because of it, but if you invest into a GOOD one, you will have almost the exact same latency/ping ingame as you would on wired). Just keep in mind, wired will have its advantages over wireless even in these times, but you can game the same on wireless as on wired so long as you get a decent setup :)

I know someone here has the D-Link Xtreme N Gaming Router. Its suppose to be the best gaming router, but I wouldn't know since I don't have one lol.

Fair point. :p

Not trying to down what you commented on Firehazard, not in the least :)

There's just more varying factors than net speed. And if you want horrible latency, you can take a look at what Im on right now.... Satellite net through WildBlue... about $100/month for 1.5Mbit.... with a 16GB or whatever monthly download limit -.- I average about 1800 ping :P Yay for living RIGHT outside of town where cable JUST stops <.<

Oh man that is horrible :(

I am right outside of city limits, but at least they got us cable, but I doubt I will ever get fiber though.
