I have been using Comcast for a few years now and I love it, but I have one problem with it, its bandwidth limit...
For standard Comcast internet, the limit is 250gigs.
Well that is not to bad, and not a lot of people hit it, but with now the world is changing and more and more people are using the internet everyday to watch, Netflix, Youtube, and download games. We are getting more dependent on the internet, and Comcast has not yet raised there bandwidth limit.
I have hit the limit a few times now, and if I do it one more time they will shut off my internet and I will have to go back to DSL...
If I want to "upgrade" my internet so I don't have to worry about the cap, I would have to get "small business" internet, I don't know but it could just be me, but that is stupid that I need to upgrade to "small business" for myself.
I have eight games right now that I have bought on STEAM and I can't download them, I have a RIFT and a Bad Company 2 update that I can't do right now because I don't want to risk going over the limit. I am doing every other day with Netflix.
Overall, Comcast really needs to raise the bandwidth cap, so that people don't have to upgrade for "small business" internet.
Is there anyone else that has been fighting with Comcast like myself?

As a former Comcast employee, I can tell you this: The reason they put the limit at 250GB is because certain areas are allocated a certain amount of bandwidth, and they do not expect people to download over 250GB of data in the span of one month.
Therefore, if you exceed the limit multiple times, they will automatically assume that you are up to no good because historically, it is Internet pirates that have used up that much data in such a short amount of time.
And honestly speaking, if you ARE using that much data in a short amount of time, I would find it a bit suspect, myself. But, I don't know. Maybe you just buy a lot of digital games and movies because you're rich beyond anyone's comprehension.
I have not met a single gamer or Internet user who has gone beyond the limit who WASN'T using piracy, so it's understandable that Comcast feels that the 250GB limit is appropriate. If you don't agree, that's your prerogative, but Comcast isn't going to increase it because that would require not only upgrading their servers to handle all the traffic, but also to reinstall all their cable lines (because the Internet comes through the cable line) to be able to handle the higher bandwidth.

Thank you for all the info!
In most cases I would agree with you, but for myself I hate streamlined and downloading stuff against the law. The main times that it had happens is when I reformat my computer and want to download all my STEAM games back. I have over 700gigs of games I need to download, so that is where my main problem is. The other is that I watch a ton of Netflix, so with only having 8.333gigs a day for me is super small, so I have to limit myself.

Comcast is just a poor company, as is their service they provide along with the crappy support. They think they can gouge customers after the Verizon fiasco many years back. What's sad is they've already been gouging customers if you don't watch your bills, they've just more or less gotten worse when they say a company like Verizon do it.
My suggestion to you (and yes I can easily do over 250GB easy as was the case when I was on T3 (45Mbit down/up ) and consistently having the computers sync with several server boxes I had around the country), is to upgrade to business assuming they aren't trying their price-gouge tactics with it.
If you don't upgrade, you will end up like this, www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/07/14/comcast.bans.internet.wired/index.html?iref=NS1
Since the FCC has been over-ruled numerous times now thanks to Comcast and Verizon trying to push things through rulings, the Supreme Court has sided with these companies, you can expect much much more from Comcast, such as "pricing packages based on WHAT sites you can access".
Net neutrality has very little ground anymore, so don't be surprised if they even start a bandwidth capped package setup (I wouldnt be opposed to this actually dependent on pricing for higher tier(50Mbit+))

Wow... That is really stupid.
Thank you for posting that story, I was really happy to read it, and see what they guy has been dealing with, and I am in the same boat that he is in.
It just seems stupid to upgrade to small biz for one person...

It's just one of those things, if you are using over their limit you will be forced into a 1yr ban from their services, or spend a little more and get a business account :/
Just make the best choice as per what you use the net for

I have been tweeting with some comcast people today, they got back to me with some interesting stuff, but don't think I will get anything done, but I would like to be heard by them, and tell them how silly this really is for gamers to have to pay for a small bis internet just so they don't have to worry about the limit and get there internet canceled.

I wish you the best of luck, but keep in mind, there are numerous thousands of us that have spoken to Comcast reps and even some of the higher ups, their excuse (despite infrastructure redesign allowing for more data to be passed....) is normally, "We don't want anyone in the area to be paying for 20mbit and only get 5Mbit or slower because others want to hog the bandwidth". That's the jist of what people are told normally :/

Yeah, I agree I don't think that anything will be done, but its good to keep telling them that a lot of people are having problems with this, and something should be changed in there system.

So I think I am just going to give up pretty soon and just upgrade to small bis internet so I don't have to worry about the limit...
