Hi Girls and Guys
I have a quick question, when I bought my laptop I got the Photoshop Elements 6.0 with it. Lately my interest in photography, design and all this stuff has grown majorly. I even started drawing by hand :3
Is it possible making sigs with Elements 6.0, I have been watching different tutorials, and messing around in elements, but I can't seem to get it right. I'm not able to import pictures (well, I just figured out how to do that, but instead of being able to make them smaller, I have to push them around..) However, after adding a picture, and I forexample want to use a tool called "Gradient tool", if I try using this the picture disappears completely, and all I'm left with is a canvas with gradient colors :/
My head almost hurts now, and I'm not even really sure this is a good program to be using for making signatures :mvconfused:
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this would be so much fun for me to actually be able to do :mvgiggle:

I wouldn't recommend using Elements. Try downloading photoshop CS5 Demo or buy the full version. That's what I use for my signatures and they turn out amazing, according to people's reactions. It is a very simple program to make signatures and user bars. And there are way more tutorials for it.

Alright! :3
Thank you for your answer, I appreciate it <3
I'll try downloading it now, maybe it was Elements and not me that was the problem:mvgiggle: (doubt it, but I'll try) Thanks again xx

Considering she just got one from Deadly Star yesterday, I dont think she needs a new one.
I mean think about what you would feel like if someone had you do a signature for them and then got a new one the next day

Im not being rude! was in no way trying to be rude. I know that I personally watch the other sig makers to see how their work is going, how it is changing or improving, I was just pointing out a fact Kawaii.
Skitstep, sorry if I came off as being rude. I was not intending to be to rude.

The way you wrote it, it seemed like he knew I got a signature from her yesterday.
Either way, I get your point :3

Idk what you all are on about. Elements 6 is not a watered down version of Photoshop. It's no different, and even has some functions that CS4 doesn't. I don't have CS5 bc no reason to upgrade my CS4, but anyway. The only real difference in the two is that you can do more bulk functions and also make your own actions with CS, neither of which is required to make signatures.
Elements is an excellent program for making signatures, very similar to the more 'professional' photoshop version, you are not going to know how do do it in CS5 either, if you can't figure it out in Elements. The menus are very similar.
The best way to 'import' a picture is to just open it separately and then select all/copy/paste into the sig. You can move it around and resize by dragging the corners. There's a button to toggle to retain the ratio. Idk why you'd be using the gradient tool, but if you tell me what you're after, I can tell you how to do it :)

Elements is the consumer product. Photoshop is the actual program, basically elements is photoshop but missing many things which is why I said watered down. I use a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop, so I apologize if you got offended (I use alot of the functions in PS5). But I do agree that you can still make signatures in elements, but if someone is actually entranced by sigs and want to push further in design studies then Photoshop will be needed.
Elements is a full program, it is just not tailored for professionals. As a professional, I managed to use Elements for a year before upgrading. As I said, the only noticeable difference was the lack of bulk processing and making my own actions. Which I'll admit was nice, when processing 500 plus photos for a wedding. I've yet to notice much difference in my design work though. Many of the things you can do in CS4, you can accomplish in Elements. The menus are slightly different, but there are workarounds for the few differences.
I disagree that Photoshop is needed to push forward in design, unless you mean Creative Suite, since you may want to supplement with another program,. But as for what can be done in Elements/Photoshop, you can go really far.
And I'm not offended. I'm just speaking out of experience with both programs. I see no reason for anyone to download an $800 suite of programs if they are not already firmly seated in the professional arena. If you are going to college and KNOW that this is your dream job, then maybe consider investing. If you are learning and honing your interest, Elements is an excellent program....arguably the best there is for the price. :)

I started out with PS3, so I am super leaned towards the use of photoshop because it has everything I need and more. Then I just recently implemented illustrator to my programs and went insane (the quality is AHMAZING!)
See, I started out with Elements. And I can honestly say that when I switched, there was no real 'learning curve'. The programs are that similar.
I have heard good things about Illustrator. I like design better than photography, so I may give it a go sometime. If/when I can dig myself out from under all these photos :(
Best of luck with your career, sounds like you are already on the right path...:mvcelebration:

I already made 2 in CS5 in under 2 hours, I couldnt even do 1 in elements in over 6 hours :3 I'm not experienced at all, but for newbies like myself, CS5 is definatly WAY better then elements (for me a noob lol)
