Hi, I've been trying to figure this out and don't even know if its possible. Me and my man :P got an Xbox not too long ago, and the only game we have is Doa4 which I like alot more than him, but he bought an Xbox Live account that we've both been playing online with, since we live together and share the tv and xbox. When I play I have to use his gamertag and I'm trying to figure out if I can atleast get my own name for when I'm playing, without having to pay for another account, because that'd be a waste of money since we don't play online together. Any way to do this at all? Thanks in advance! :o
Edit: I'm an idiot, forgot to mention its an XBOX 360, not a normal XBOX, if that makes a difference.

I don't think so. As long as you are playing under his tag, you'll appear as his name. :p

If you play a game like Halo 2 or GRAW (I think), you can log in 2 different accounts. However, they both have to be Gold accounts.
Unfortunately, I know that DOA4 won't let you have 2 people logged in while playing online. You can only play versus mode on the same 360. -_- I know, it stinks.
All in all, I would recommend just sticking with one Gold account, especially since you seem to be playing on the same console. Unless you play lots of games that you can play 2 player online, want to have 2 different accounts logged in, or want your own gamertag and gamer score, you probably don't want to get your own account. It depends on if you feel like sharing. :)

It thought she was asking if she could appear as a different name when she logs into his xbl account...? I'm confused now. >.<
I got the same impression as you herb, and you're correct - there's no way to change a display name at all on the fly, you can only permanently change it, and that has a fee from Microsoft.

Sorry. Half of my answer was directed to h2oSilentCid and the other half was directed to emily00 since I figured you already said that you can't change your tag for different people. >_<
I figured she would be thinking about getting another Gold account since she couldn't change it on the go.

I think its better if she sticks with just that one gamertag. I don't see the point of having another account, unless you have a another console at home. I have two, but it is because I have a few games (mainly sports) where two people can login in, in the same console. So I just use the other one when one of my family members wants to play with me over live to take on someone else I am playing over Live. But you cannot change your display name, and to use another account to play over Live, you have to pay. So I think its a no go...
