Man I'm reading the third book right now called the "Specials" this series is incredibly intense and brings up a lot of issues that teens face while growing up. Have any of you guys read it? What are your thoughts?

"Uglies is a 2005 science fiction novel by Scott Westerfeld. It is set in a future post-scarcity dystopian world in which everyone is turned "Pretty" by extreme cosmetic surgery upon reaching age 16. It tells the story of teenager Tally Youngblood who rebels against society's enforced conformity, after her new found friends Shay and David show her the downsides to becoming a "Pretty". They show Tally how being a "Pretty" can change not only your look but your personality. Written for young adults, Uglies deals with adolescent themes of change, both emotional and physical. The book is the first installment in what was originally a trilogy, the Uglies series, which also includes Pretties, Specials, and Extras."

I read those a while ago. It was an interesting way to get the message across to teens/young adults, but it's a common theme overall. All of Scott Westerfeld's novels are pretty good, but if you like the Uglies series, you'd probably also like Robin Wasserman's "Cold Awakening" trilogy.

I have and read all 4 of those books and I loved each one. I couldn't put them down once I started reading them.

I agree with Hoov. XD And everyone else. Those books were ah-may-zing. I don't like books and it's extremely hard for me to get really into a book as much as i did with Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras. When I get interested in a book, I'm beast at reading them. I read all four of them within four days. :D A book a day. I loved them, and still do.

I read that series a while ago, I really liked it! Try reading "The Way We Fall" by Megan Crewe.
