i know, doesn't that just suck...
it can pretty much be infered by the huge cliff hanger terrible ending, it was pretty obvious they were gonna try and combat the halo trilogy :D

I enjoyed the storyline. Coulda used more substance, for sure. But I think they'll improve as time goes by.
They could have put all three games together and had one epic game. =(

Na. This game was like trial and error. Which had very few errors, at least in the single player campaign. Game two will more than likely take multiplayer to a new level. Game three will plaster the GoW franchise in all minds.

More Gears of War is a good thing.

Not a huge suprise, concidering the acclaim that Gears of War recieved, as well as the time used building up the hype.
The first game leaves a lot of questions unanswered, hopefully we'll get deeper into the story behind both Marcus and Dom in the next two games.

They also released the game on time.
I think the story in GoW is amazing, but I'm not sure whether a trilogy will do the game any justice. As long as they don't try to overhaul everything and keep the story decent it will probably be good.

I agree. I thought the story was great. Did it blow my mind away? Nah... but if the story was more in-depth would I have noticed? Probably not.. I'd have more than likely just wanted to skip it and get back to filling grubs with lead.
As is most of the story sequences had me madly mashing the x button trying to skip it. An RPG requires an involved story. An FPS needs frantic action and a plot you can follow, all of which GoW delivered on.
I also liked the ending. Maybe it comes with age and maturity.. but I dont mind waiting. You know, good things come to those who wait. I feel no need to know what happened.. the humans won a battle and thats what this release was about, this particular battle. If the crammed the whole war into one playable 40-60 hr game you'd either
a) loose interest before the end
b) the battles would be condensed resulting in loss of immersion and impact
Ah hell, why do I even bother.. unhappy will be unhappy people no matter what, and will always find something to complain about.

I only wish that Raab or whatever his name was was more involved in the storyline. He only made a few appearances. Maybe a battle before the last battle would have worked. He did kill off one of the characters though, which was neatly done in with the story.
Also, the feminine voice wasn't explained at all, that I can remember.

Pretty much proof that there will be some locust higher-ups in future games, hopefully it won't turn out to be gravemind controlling Cortana so that Master Chief has to fly in and save the day in another game.

True.. I think shes the loctus queen of some sort.. hopefully we meet her in GoW 2 and fight her in GoW 3

Ya... its interesting that its a woman. Plays on the whole locust (bug) concept.
I don't really care much about Dom's storyline. Fenix is obviously the main character. He has an interesting attitude and surely has a great past to share.

Maybe we will get to reenact the battles that got him chucked in prison? There is a basic explaination somewhere, probably the booklet, so it could be some part of the next game.

From Kotaku.com and the Official GOW forums:
Gears of War is infinite! Epic's Mark Rein chimed in on the official GoW forums, responding to the claim/leak/rumor that a trilogy is planned.
Gears is a trilogy? If we can keep making quality games that fans obviously love [...] then why would we have to stop at three? I don't see the Metal Gear Solid, Mario, Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy series (among others) stopping at three and they're still delivering compelling entertainment content that's easily worth the money (see Unreal Tournament as well). There's definitely, as many of you have pointed out, a lot more to learn about what's really happening on the plant Sera and in the lives of the members of Delta Squad.
Gears of War Karting confirmed? I'm just hoping we get a Marcus Fenix dating sim at some point. He's so dreamy.

I think Jeff Bell said trilogy as a definite goal, but they're defiantly planning more than that.

If they are going to make more than three, they shouldn't call the next game just Gears of War 2 that'd just be boring. Gears of War : Spanner in the Works sounds much better.
Ugh but with each Mario, FF, Zelda game they come to and END. Somethings are similar or vaguely passed on across the others, but as GoW 1 finishes, there HAS to be more after that continue the story line. I hope their writers are up for the job.

I think if they did it correctly it might even surpass big H as far as storyline goes.
GoW has been released, what they should do next to keep the story rolling is release a prologue which will fill us in on the story of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
Then after that if 3 games is all its going to be they should release the game that ties everything up by following on from the first game.
If they did it like this and made the story flow well then I think it would work considerably well, but they'd also have to make the single player capaign longer than that of the first game.
