Hi so i went to a store today and they have a philips 32" 50HZ LCD tv for 280 bucks, was 440. I told the guy i wanted it mainly for gaming and when i said it was for a ps3 he said it wouldnt be any good because the ps3 runs at 200HZ and he directed me to the more expensive 100HZ model, hey hes on commision ...so my question is has anyone a lcd tv that runs on 50HZ and is it good bad or just ok, fast reply would be appreciated because i think the price drop on the tv ends tomorrow, sunday, thank you.

I think the PS3 is only 60HZ, I have 60 and for BFBC2 it is awesome. (Maybe diff. #'s because of countries... -_-) I have a computer monitor though. 26 inch HD for like $180, found it on Tiger Direct. Probably not much help, but good luck on the new tv! ^_^

that seems a little pricey to me, have you tried looking at that model on sites like amazon and check user reviews? you can usually get a good idea on how good it is there. hope it helps.

I have a 40 inch LCD Samsung and it kicks unholy amounts of ass. PS3 is only 60Hz but I would get a 120 Hz tv if you're going to be gaming with it. 120Hz shows movement better and is clearer when the picture moves.

That philips seems like a pretty good deal after doing a bit of web searching. (of course I'm no expert) If you need a new TV I'd say jump on the deal. What kind are you using now?

Go with the techwood: Bigger tv, better contrast ratio, doesn't consume nearly as much power, and better response time

Just posting this due to not understanding what Obsidian is reading exactly. Better contrast, better response time? Maybe I'm blind, but 5 > 6.5 if I went to preschool. And normally the lower response/refresh rate is better for games. Also, the contrast ratio on each, neither is given.
For future reference, look into more than just, "Dynamic Contrast", because a setup with say, 1,000 static contrast, will look better than a screen with 50,000 dynamic contrast (but true 700 static).
As far as the mention previously of SAMSUNG, I too own a SAMSUNG 40" UN40C6300 LED 120HZ, the thing is, don't believe marketing when you see 120hz :) There is no 120hz on these screens, it's taken from Auto Motion Plus, which I'm sorry, but I refuse to use because it makes films look like soap operas to me. Don't care for that. I simply got this screen because WorstBuy actually had a decent sale when I was home on leave before I came back to base this past Thanksgiving.
I need to start a tech blog and make some rants on such things :P I seem to have a knack for it xD
black, I hope you are thoroughly enjoying your purchase however :)
