View Full Version : forum permissions - CS recruitment forum.

In the forum
PMS Clan > Recruitment > How do I join PMS Clan? > PMS PC/MMO there is a redirect link to the Counter Strike section of the forums. I have a new recruit (finally may have enough interest for a new CS:S division :D) and she cannot read anything in the Counter Strike section of the forums including the recruitment forum (http://www.pmsclan.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=140).
Another recruit just replied to my post in the CS General Talk forum, so it doesn't seem to be a universal problem.
I experimented by creating a new account with no forum rights so that I knew exactly which forums registered users could see, and I could not access the Counter Strike recruitment forum either.

Yeah this was happening who I directed someone to the GoW recruitment section...
ewwww, yuckies and confusion, it turns out that its a link to a separate subforum so the inherited permissions are messed......uh....in other words i go fix now :p

Permissions should be set the same as the other recruitment sections (i.e. halo 2 is what i mimicked) let me know if they're still off.
Also try not to make duplicate accounts, often we can just look in the back end and see if the permissions are incorrectly set, if not we can quick pop up a new account and remove it when we're done, otherwise we've got multiple accounts with the same IP addresses and its nice to have as accurate web stats as possible.

I didn't realize there was a problem in creating a second account.
Go ahead and delete the account Strabo then - that's the duplicate one I made to test with.
She's still having trouble reading the forum. This is the post I'm trying to get her to view: http://www.pmsclan.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6842
Thats because that isn't in the recruitment section, I only made the recruitment section available for viewing from people outside PMS or H2O, the forum rights on that entire (PC | MMO) section aren't available for everyone.
If it doesn't fit into http://www.pmsclan.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=392 at all or anywhere else visible to the general public just give me a yell and we can work on getting a section visible to all that needs to be.

The main thing I'd noticed is that it was somehow inconsistent - one person could view it while another can't (and both with the same forum rights). I didn't really worry which way you decided to do it (denything them both the ability to view the forum, or allowing both to do see it); I'd have asked the thread be moved if it was to be a completely private forum.
It does look like everyone that needs to can view it now though - thanks.
Yeh gyps usually handles the forum permissions for your sections so I can't speak for that entirely, she'd be better able to explain the mindset for ya, I just provide band-aid support ;-)
