Who got thier Nintendo Wii and how do you like it? Does it live to the hype that it's easy to control?

It takes about 2 to 3 hours to get used to using the Wiimote completely...at least that's what the research on it is saying. I played it for like a minute at E3 (that's all the time that was allowed pretty much), and I wasn't doing so good at Metroid (I kept walking into walls trying to get used to the movement controls and such), but Wii Sports and Zelda Fishing were pretty easy to play for obvious reasons. I just don't know if the Wiimote is going to make playing FPS's any better than using a "regular" controller. Maybe I just need to do some practicing...

I love my Wii, it was worth every hour of the ten hours I waited for it. Zelda is so much fun, and I actually got distracted by wii sports for awhile, I never knew a bowling game could be so much fun. I wish I had more money, I definitely would have gotten red steel, but I am content with zelda right now, The wiimote is so much fun to use, and as far as zelda goes is doesn't take long at all to get used to. I <3 the Wii!!!

haha, I'd expect results along the lines of these:

p.s. I use aim every now and then. Asphix20 is the screen name.

*gives mine a big hug* ^_^ a real good deal for $250
Wii is fun. The Wii-mote gets annoying sometimes when trying to do remedial things in games, and the pressure triggers decide to do something else.

Just want to say that I love the console so far. Zelda lives up to its name as an addictive and engrossing title. By far its one of the best launch title ever subject to a hardware launch.
I love the fact that my girlfriend will play Wii sports, Rayman and Monkey Ball with me for hours (she rarely touches conventional console controllers) all the while with a huge smile on her face. I actually get tired and want to quit before she does!
The Wii channels will be great once they're fully implemented. I like the whole concept of the Mii characters. I'm unsure how much i'll like the online store.. right now it seems to be very slow. Their implementation isnt as rock solid as the competition as you actually have to wait for the page to load prior to it being displayed as opposed to dynamically loading the content.
Given the price point, its worth the purchase.. good luck finding extra remotes though.

hmm I really don't have any lag like issues when going around the Wii Shop Channel.
I want to hear some drunken stories regarding the wii. lol
I drank a lot last night and went up against my undefeated room mate on Sports Wii Tennis. I actually won him so I am thinking maybe I could be the drunken master.

After waiting a hour to grab the Wii, I booted it up and was very impressed. Dare I say that I enjoyed updating the software via Wii-Fi (yes I have a lot of Wii puns here lol).Even though it took longer than expected. I like the main interface for the Wii, I like all those Wii TV screens. I already made my Mii and sent Wiimails via Wii-Fi. (is it me or does everything on the Wii sound like it was from Earthbound a bit?)
I popped in Wii Sports and was amazing on how much of an addiction this game actually was! Bowling, Tennis are my favs with baseball a close 3rd with golf.
Nunchuck and Wiimote are great to play with even when the Wii is turned off. Only 1 problem though, sometimes when I shut it off via the Wiimote, the console doesn't shut off completely. Other than that little minor annoyance, disks read fine, no fatal errors.

The strap is there to make sure you don't drop the remote, not violently swinging it that it slips out of your hand and rips. Something nintendo.com put up on their front page regarding this. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wiiplay.jsp

I just dont understand this??? It is not that serious. I play tennis & Boxing. I could play w/out the strap. It is fun, challenging but not to where i would forget that I have a 3500 TV in front of me. I dunno guess it is me

I would never have that problem considering that my video projector is above me and on the back wall.

haha. I can see it breaking, just because of the quality of the strap. But if your hands are sweating that much that you'd lose complete grip of the controller, then there's something wrong there.

I usually play the games without the strap since I find it a minor annoyance for my wrist...but I don't totally go crazy when serving in Tennis that I hit the TV screen. People need to know their own strength. >>

I kinda want a wii...just for the movement aspect of it...but i don't really like the look of the games/graphics (apart from Zelda because everyone has to love that ^^) also, as someone else said i just reckon i'd end up hurting myself, like falling off my bed or out the window lol.
maybe i'll get one when all the hype has calmed down and i actually have some money :P

I guess i am a light-hearted gamer. A friend of mine wanted to get into a heated argument when it came down to the graphics for all of the systems. For me personally it is not a factor - He kept calling the Wii graphics sub-par and the way i feel is in terms of graphics is good, better , and best...am I wrong? Well i guess it is all perception.
and he also said to me that the wii cannot be considered a next-gen console because power and graphics determine that but i said um... er... uh... doesnt game play also (or a new way of playing)? So i guess this is a rant and a way to get other opinions.
Seems to me that many of us have forgotten that we game to play and enjoy the games (&consoles). That is the reason we are gamers

I definitely drink and game and whilst it dulls my senses to the 'real' world it heightens them to the game, so the more I drink the better I become :p until I like... fall asleep or something.
On topic: I think the Wii has/had potential, but at the moment I just don't think it offers me enough as a Hardcore gamer to go on out and purchase it.

A couple of my friends bought their Wii's yesterday, and we sat down in the evening and played quite a bit. First impressions are very good, the response is a lot better than what I would've thought, first concern was the size of the nunchuck, which seemed a bit small for my hands.
Tried just a couple of games, RayMan, Wii Sports and Zelda: The Twilight Princess. Wii Sports was the most fun, possibly because of the 3-player mayhem than went on in our livingroom. My biggest doubt about Wii is how it will hold up as a single-player console, and not as a party-console.
And how will the Wii live up, once people gets past the first initial "wow"-moments, and I've also got a feeling that the Wii will usher in a new era of tendinitis.
I will probably buy one, but not in 2006 - I'll be waiting and see how the game-lineup turns out, since I never did own a Nintendo of any kind, neither Mario, Zelda or Metroid Prime got a huge appeal to me, thought they are all probably excellent games.

Yeah i agree, me and Strite were just saying after the hype of the launch don't think there's going to be any amazing game releases or anything like that...i think people will get bored quickly.

who knows ??!! it is very well a possibility , people are so overstimulated that they become numb to the newness of console, games, heck many things quickly. However i think that Nintendo will pay attention and make games that will incorporate the innovative use of their system to keep people playing. They have a lot of tightening up to do but i think/hope that will come with time and for now the fun factor is high and mostlikely will stay that way for a good bit.

Smash Brothers Brawl will be amazing. Other than that, I am skeptical. The wiimote is annoying, and conventional controllers are MUCH better.
