if u watched the news or on yahoo u prob already seen this stuff happend when riots started everywhere from ppl tryin to get ps3 plus ppl where even robbin ppl for there money or from ebgames store its weird when they fight just to get in line and 1 guy got arrested for not listening to the police to move he was standin in line for 10hrs and another guy got slammed into a pole from people rushing to get to the doors well iam just glad i didn't even go get a ps3 with all that just happend i will just wait till next shipment of the ps3 to come out rather that than gettin robbed and pushed , punched in the face just to get a dang ps3 :)

ya... its gotten a bit out of hand. Some people even got shot over the PS3 shortages.
Its insane, how crazy people are getting over an overpriced console.
It happens, my mom works are Targets, she said a dude follow a mother and a sun home during the 360 launched and held her at gunpoint for it

It just goes to show you that the arguements of "LOL PS3 is 600 dollars, nobody is going to buy that" are false. The PS3 will sell out in every single store its in. Thats not saying much 'right now' considering the shortage of consoles, but they will still be being sold out for a long long time ahead of us.

ya plus not really worryed about gettin ps3 since we still got games comin out still for the systems we still own and i just worry bout playin with my friends on socom CA rather that than fighting over a ps3

Yeah it's crazy - I just read on CNN.com about a guy getting shot because some robbers were tryin' to take everyone's PS3 money (link to article here).
Everyone that lined up at the San Francisco Sony Metreon Playstation store got their PS3's (600 people). There are other people that were in front of other electronics stores (Best Buy) that missed out since there wasn't enough.
It is a bit out of hand, and it's not like they're gonna sell out and run out of copies (talked to a PS representative and they'll be shipping out new PS3's every 1-2 weeks to Best Buys).

You forgot to link it, but I've seen the story and a bunch of others and it's all completely disgusting. Most of the ppl getting themselves hurt are not gamers, lol most gamers can't afford the system, but they're the opportunistic greedies who want to turn a quick buck.
Really? I heard the second batch wasnt until next year

*sigh* A walmart here decided that since they only had 10 PS3's, so they decided to tell the people waiting, "if you get a chair, you can get a ps3", of course, they went crazy, and one guy was thrown face first into a flag pole, dislocating his jaw.

The prices of game consoles now is just so much bs it even causes robberies.. yeah think of what happens when the next console goes up to 1000...talk about shootings and some bigtime robberies..

I think it's kinda stupid, the hype that is because it's pretty pricey to begin with and now it's outrageous. Feel bad for the people who were shot over it, pointless drama.

This makes me sad at the gaming masses, this is why I never go to camp out for anything, not even camping. I dont want to get held at gunpoint for a sleeping bag.

I think ebay needs to make some sort of rule or just something because I'm hearing that lots of people are only getting the PS3 just to steal on ebay for even more money. I mean its smart, but WAYYY too easy and the chances of getting hurt go high up. Also i dont think any company she be able to launch a system if it has "shortages" because it just causes chaos. Its a game system people. IMO its just retarded how it ends up like this.

i'm sure the people they rob are little teenagers and their mothers. best thing to do is have a 6 foot 5 giant with you that no one would mess with, like me :D
but i agree that the launch date shouldn't be pushed to having so little so so many people freak out like this. but, people learn from their mistakes, so i'm sure it won't happen so severe next time.

A console isn't going to get to 1000 bucks, unless the economy's expense of living continues getting higher as well. Then we'll see a higher rate for everything, not just consoles.
Every console in recent years has been sold at an expensive rate when first released. At least Sony's has, anyway.

They werne't. people were escorted for the release of xbox 360. There wasn't one recorded incident for robbing at gunpoint. atleast to my memory haha.

lol, yes there were, reports of people being followed home, some beaten, some held at gunpoint. why do people deny what happened? they both happened the same way.

i guess there are those who are just messed up in the head, why would some one hurt another just to play a new console, thats just retarded, when the 360 came out i could not get any in winnipeg, allllll sold out, then i went to portage la parie and the walmart there had two left, and the one i pre-orderd in brandon, and for the ps3 my good buddy at an eb kept one for me behinde the desk, and the most strange thing is, no one bought them before, i waited one week and no one bought the console, so the day i called, i thought "oh they are DEFFANTLY gone" then he said, nope, no one bought them, only the wii is out of stock, then i was like SHIBBY:D could you hold one for me, then he said, sure, and the same day i got one, oh ya, thats what im talking about, man and to think so many stayed in line for hours and all i had to do is call a week later and they still have two, im so freaken luckY!!!!!!! don't hate:) but not many good games out just yet.

Its the criminals fault.. not the product.
Well Sony's inability to ship units in mass quantity led to the turmoil, bad people caused it to spill over.

unfortunately.... i'm sorry try fortunately i'm proud i didn't get shot over my 360 and i believe that they should put out around 30 consoles per store at launch and only do reserves for the launch WEEK not just the day the 7 after too....

February is the month for new batches (2nd gen), but they're still shipping out PS3's. But as far as them being in stores, they'll be available. The Best Buy by my house just got another shipment in a couple days ago during the afternoon (my boyfriend works there). And they'll be getting more before Christmas.
