Hey guys, since minecraft is awesome! i wanted to get a night of the week to play with a few people, like a weekly thing and then if we can turn it into maybe a more often thing. Im on the vent for pc so just find me, my name in vent is the same as the forums.

Recently, I just watched the Video Game Awesome crew complete a build challenge where they built a Wild West type town and it was pretty awesome.

I'm with you there. As a big fantasy fan, I'm totally down with that. I'm getting all tingly with excitement now. We all can make something awesome!

I usually play solo, and I admit I haven't yet been able to participate in the multiplayer aspect of the game. Does anyone know how to setup a server, or is willing to do so?

I'm getting a new computer soon so I'll be able to play. I say every week or two we try to make a themed world. Castles would be fun to start with :D

Well we need to:

1. Set up a server
(I'm assuming a private server so we don't have griefers/trolls running in and destroying everything.)

2. Vent server
So we can chat and what not. Personally, I'm not to familiar with vent and I don't know what server we can use. I'm assuming the clan has one, but since most of of are not technically members, I don't if we can use it or not. So we might have to find alternatives like skype or something along those lines.

3. Have fun.

*To the first point, my computer is an older macbook(At the moment, I'm the process of building my pc gaming rig but that won't be operational for a while) so I can't run the server. Can anyone else though?

i might have a server you guys can play on, if you pm me once you're organized + have nicks (ingame names plz!) of all the people i need to add to the access list. it's not setup to be a public friendly server right now so i'd have to change a few things before letting people on but i'm sure that wouldn't be a problem

we run craftbukkit with a few mods installed... minecart mania (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Mods/Minecart_Mania!) which lets you change ways minecarts work, such as gold blocks underneath the track giving a speed boost, iron beneath ejecting the rider and a bunch of other stuff, a neat mod that lets you create elevators out of signs by adding a string [Lift Up] to the second line in the sign... and some basic inventory hacks/server commands and anti-griefing stuff

i can also help anyone that wants to setup their own server... a few hoops to jump through but nothing i can't explain on vent or IM

Hmm that may be our best bet, thank you! In terms of the mods/hacks can we turn them off or block them? Cus I agree with Obsidian I'm not a fan of inventory hacks, I wanna do the work.

OMG! Just let me know when and where and I'll be there. I freakin' love Minecraft! I'd been planning to make a post about Minecraft forever know and am glad to see that there are tons of others that play this as well.

If nothing else, I can run a server off my desktop until we get something more definite. As far as Mods go: The buckkitcraft fixes the buckets and water dynamics in multiplayer and the hacks he's talking about is actually for OPs. Usually OPs will only INVed in something when griefers start running amok. I, personally, run with Mo Creatures simply because I wanted to be able to ride and breed the horses and go battle against wraiths and Ogers.

Hey! I had a friend set up a server. He's one of my pocket genius's. It'll be semi perm and depending on how many people use it, it will be permanent. It can handle 30-ish people at one time. here's what you need to know : 71.179.96.102

Whitelist for a server is like the list that bouncer has at a club, if you're not on it, you're not getting in. You basically have to get permission first to join the server.

Basically you download a ping image and upload to the preferences page when you log into the Minecraft website. And voila you have a new skin for your minecraft character instead of the original one.
