"One item under evaluation for returning to the Dallas event is the “Miss WSVG” competition. The Frag Dolls and PMS Clan had boycotted this event in Kentucky, but decided instead to take the stage with their own “Mr. WSVG” competition. The clans have stated that they plan to run another “Mr. WSVG” competition in Dallas. If this happens, and in order to be fair, the WSVG may feel compelled to run another “Miss WSVG” competition as well."

hahaha....way to go girls!

that event was hysterical, everyone who watched it, even the other WSVG staff I spoke to and the Sponsors who were in earshot of the stage all agreed it was FAR more entertaining and fun than the miss wsvg event was!

Girls wouldn't have to be marketed really if most developers and males realized they game too. So your point was?

PMS C3LLA

Allow me to explain something about PMS Clan, something that is often looked over by quick passers-by:

We do not "plaster our faces and bodies all over the internet." We are a very large and diverse group of girl gamers; both casual and competitive. We do not care if a girl gamer wants to doll herself up simply because she's a gamer. Any girl can represent herself as she wishes. As well, we do not encourage or promote our girls to be overtly sexy or sexual in any manner.

What people fail to see about our boycott is that it was a silent boycott (on the PMS side). We did not want our fellow female gamers (whether in PMS or not) to think that this contest, titled "Ms. WSVG", was gaming related. To title a beauty contest with the tournament name is misleading. If a female is going to be awarded a position in WSVG, it should be based on gaming knowledge and skill.

If that message isn't clear enough, I don't know what else to say.

Passers-by also don't realize that we are not, and don't encourage pin-up mentality.

I understand that message, but the "leaders" if you will, are "dolled" up. You're on Xbox.com, doing videos with various gaming sites, doing interviews with Major Nelson, etc., etc. and I did not see one woman that was not attractive. You would think that out 10 or 12 people, there would be one that might be considered by some to not be pretty, but I highly...HIGHLY doubt that it isn't some sort of coincedence that every speaking head for the Frag Dolls/PMS are attractive women.

And these "normal women" in the community are not a part of that. The leaders are the one that I'm directing my rant at. I'm just saying that the Frag Dolls and PMS Leaders aren't really gaming related. In my eyes, the leaders are marketing tools that give horny teenagers some eye candy.

I know you'll disagree, because you must, but it's my opinion on the matter. Opinions aren't fact, but it's fact to me as an individual.

If my message isn't clear enough, I don't know what else to say other than I'm looking forward to getting my post deleted again.

Nice job on deleting my post and covering it with your own. Very classy of you, Devolution. Any criticism and you delete posts. No wonder this place is dead.

Regardless, I do not see your point. Girls (yourself and your clan included) are marketed because it is a male dominated industry. There is no way around it. And as that podcast that I posted (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6152967/index.html) said, you are no different from this beauty contest. You and the Frag Dolls are marketed girl clans by Microsoft and Ubisoft because you all are attractive women who happen to play video games. Whoop-de-freakin'-do. You're a game player, and it's great that you play games. But that's all you are. Pretty video game players.
Fragdolls and PMS are two separate entities, if you did your research you'd realize Fragdolls isn't even a clan.

My point is that you have no moral highground at all to boycott something that you all are. You and the Frag Dolls are paid by Ubisoft and Microsoft to be pretty girls that play games and there is no way around that.
Excuse me? We game, period. That contest was to award a female just for saying "I like Super Mario Bros." There was no competition or game playing involved, that was the point sir.

Furthermore, you are a game player and why do you have to differentiate yourself (other members included) from the gaming population as a whole? Can't you guys just say...I play games, I happen to be a girl and that's cool. But you get up your own FunnyBunnyFunnyBunnyFunnyBunny about girl gaming to the degree of me wanting to vomit. Why not just have clans with the most skill and lose the focus on which type of genitals or chest size the player has?
The realities of female gaming is that our looks are constantly judged, and I will inform you NO SERIOUS GIRL GAMER LIKES THIS FACT. Unfortunately we are stuck with it, if people such as yourself don't like this double standard, do all of us a favor and tell your sex to stop berating our looks on Live and at events.

Attractive, all-girl clans like PMS and Frag Dolls do nothing to advance the perception of girls in video games. You all probably have experienced this...do guys talk to you about games or do they say..."OMGZ UR SOOOOOOO HOT!!!!!!!!!!1" Yeah, I'm guessing the latter. Well, it's because you're being marketed as "hot chicks that play games"...(and then, yeah, because that's on guy's minds a lot....)
Once again you assume that we, the women who play games have something to do with this. Why aren't you writing this lecture to a gaming or media corporation?

Hopefully you'll have the courage and the class to not delete this, but I'm guessing you are devoid of class and courage to take criticism. Oh well, at least you all got to read my thoughts on what I think about "girl clans."

Looking forward to you deleting this and posting a snarky remark.

Thank you.
You came here to troll us and decide to throw generalizations we've heard time and again. Why should we bother to listen to someone who can't even differentiate between a corporate sponsored group (fragdolls) and a gaming clan (pms).

I'm sorry about riling you guys up and probably should done a bit more research on things. But, even now, with no fault to you guys...I think that some of the attention you guys get are because you are girls and not because of games, and that's a horrible thing. Nice to see there are other websites and articles with the same important info. Unfortunately, not all the information about PMS and the Frag Dolls comes with them, and that's when you get uninformed people that post ignorant comments about us. Our contest was a parady of thiers, but with the intent of making it funny. We even gave little princess props to the guys and Steel won a tiara hehe. Not to mention R2D2 was in the contestent! Seriously all the guys hammed it up and i couldnt stop laughing!

I wont address most of the stuff already said as it has already been wonderfully addressed by you girls but I will say I am a leader in this clan as well as a Fragdoll and there is hardly a soul that games more then I do. Not to mention I have EVERY right to call a boycott in MY communities- I had no idea the press would pick it up or it would be so big that was crazy, but I is most certainly my right. All I wished is that this contest had anything to do with gaming or the name would change. I said this before, but I wouldnt have cared if it was a wet t-shirt contest on that stage as long as it didnt carry a title of a pro tourney event!:)

Anything wrong with the girls competing in it? nope more power to them but they arent part of my communites are they? Anything wrong with the contest itself- just the name and the thought they could have made it such a better event by including some fun gaming trivia or competitions.

I'm sorry. I must be missing something here. Are the Frag Dolls — a group of hot, sexy gaming girls employed by Ubisoft to do almost nothing except pose for photo shoots and get customers limping up to the EB counter with a Ubisoft title in hand — really complaining about the judging standards of another fatuous gaming beauty contest? The guy from Kotaku acutally had some good points, but do read the entire thing and not just the quote. It's an interresting question - have Ubisoft created the Frag Dolls to get more females interrested in gaming, or to sell more games to the male gamers? Or both?

Duh of course they created it for both- knowing that primarly males play I am sure that factored in- but they also had the forsight to see how many females we could bring to their games too. In thier forums there are alot of females, females that are are friends and support us at every gaming event we go to. How many PMS girls have stayed in Fragdoll hotels, how many other gamer girls did Ubisoft fly into E3 so they could experience all the fun? They got passes for about 10 girls and 10 guys in the community over there and flew in 5 other girls that were not fragdolls.

Point is we weren't selected based solely on looks. We were interviewed and tested hard on their games as we COMPETE ON THEM. We didnt enter the contest because it was based solely on looks and we were there to compete. Or did you fail to see how fragdolls took 7th in the GRAW Professional tournament. You guys keep getting away from the point because some of the girls are good looking you pitch us in the same boat as beauty contest.

Any trashing that wants to be done to either groups doesnt belong here. I have worked too hard on both to continue to listen to the same argument over and over. Why dont you take it over to the other forums where you can sit there and FunnyBunnyFunnyBunnyFunnyBunnyFunnyBunnyFunnyBunny with the rest of them and I don't have to get a headache reading this stuff.

I just feel it's a legitimate question, and I don't think I've seen the question asked/answered here before, but that's probably due to the fact that I've only been here for a rather brief time.

And, yes - I'm aware of the fact that most of you are able to play (you'd probably kick my a.. into oblvion), but the general public rarely gets to see that side, which is a shame. Especially now after E3, there's been a lot about you guys in the media, but people rarely get to see the hardcore gaming aspect of both PMS and the Frag Dolls.

Even though I support gaming, no matter the gender (the more the marrier, and gender shoudn't really be an issue these days - we've come a long way since gaming was only for the few hardcore nerds), I don't have to be 100% biased towards PMS to hang around, do i?

I give props for doing the Mr. WSVG contest. This parody of the Miss WSVG contest is being taken a little bit too seriously by the media. It was just a fun spoof.

This Gamespot Hot Spot show was awful. I actually downloaded it and listened to it last night. While they do make a few valid points, the rest of it is complete crap. You would think a site as big as Gamespot would actually do research on the stuff they talk about before they do their show, but alas, they were just as bad as the people who bash PMS on Digg and other places. They say the same crap (PMS is a marketing ploy by Microsoft, their gamescores are low, etc.) Also, PMS does indeed play with boys. Actually notice that there is the H20 part of the community. It's also not just an Xbox clan. They are entitled to their opinions of course, but at least give the other side a chance before you voice them. I just had to vent about it somewhere. Now back to happy thoughts. :)

They say the same crap (PMS is a marketing ploy by Microsoft, their gamescores are low, etc.)I can't believe that actually mention gamerscore as a credential for being a hardcore gamer. I know several folk who I thought would be pretty hardcore at the achievements since they spend so much time in from of the Xbox, who simply doesn't care because it's not a proper measurement of skill.

No you dont have to be biased towards us, but I found your comment before insulting and negetive. You see, with any media attention comes the haters as well, so I already have listened to comments such as this long before this article came out. I simply dont feel i have to answer for or defend this stuff IN MY OWN HOUSE. Especially when that question has been answered a million times over before. I know you are an active member of the community panda, I mean no disrespect. It simply comes from my frustration of having to defend both groups all the time with all the attacks we get on a consistant basis from people that either have no clue who we are and what we stand for, or haters we kick out or exclude from our community ><. (or the same person using differenet aliases saying the same thing on all the other forums because they spout lies and concoctions *(cough* Sabine you are so eeriely busted *cough*)

I really am too impatient of a person to constantly repeat the same things over and over hence why I love having the other girls to counterbalance me with their patience :)

While I think the achievements and gamerscore system is actually a pretty good thing, this is one of the things happening as a result. There are people out there that will only look at that. It would be highly amusing to then take them on in a game and kick their butt. It's pretty sad when a big media site such as Gamespot stoops to that level.

They said that the PMS girls represent Xbox, but have no gamerpoints. That part wasn't a joke, at least in my opinion. They were kind of joking after he mentioned about the highest person having "like 3000 points". Maybe I'm just taking it wrong, I dunno, but I didn't really take most of it as a joke. Their comments about the gamerscores were just a part of the problems I had with their comments though.
