Do you gamble? If so, send me a message, I'm doing a research project for sociology!

I have friends who gamble online, offline. I'm sure they would be perfect for your project. My roommate lost $9000 on an Eagles game last year O.O

I gamble - I play Texas Hold'em online (Paradise Poker) and offline. I also go to the casino a couple times a year and have the Hold'em and Casino video games... LoL. I'll send you a PM for your project :)

aimee, do you gamble for real money on paradise? I've been playing for free, but I've considered doing a bit of real money.

I gamble strictly for the fun of it. If you want that standpoint, I'll be more than willing to help.

I would gamble if I was the legal age to do so online or in casinos.. I dont consider myself half bad at poker, but oh no, 17 is too young.. Is it 18 or 21 where it becomes legal? Likely I still have years of waiting :/.

I've still gambled a little bit online, against what the law would allow.. Was under my moms information (and we had a shared bank account so it all worked out). But now, even if I wanted to, theres an anti-online-gambling legislation that's shut down a couple places (partypoker for example).

"Technically speaking", this legislation doesn't criminalize online gambling, it kinda just frowns upon it.. so there are still few and far between places that ignore the legislation. Ferguson's Full Tilt Poker being one of them (I knew if I didn't mention it then Twin would).

hahaha, well any form of gambling you participate in, I'd love to interview you all about, the age we're targeting is young adults. edx, could you put me in contact with your friend? nokart, could I interview about your online gambling? and r33hash, part of what we're interested in is why people gamble, so I'd love to hear from your standpoint!

I buy lotto tickets, but not aggressively. The game I play runs twice a week so I buy one ticket each time. That's pretty much it.

I play poker, mostly "offline" though, since I like the athmosphere the smell of whisky/cognaq and cigars brings to the game - got a couple of buddies who I play with every now and then.
And I'll probably spend quite a few bucks in Las Vegas next summer.

r33hash - I play for fun with their play money :) My real money goes out to my offline games with friends & family... the only reason I'd rather do that is because I don't trust putting up my CC info :p Hehehe. Plus it's easier to tell when people bluff :) I used to play @ PokerRoom.com b/c they had better graphics, no ads, and you can play with or without downloading their program - but now they have a restriction on play money players

Nokarot - If you have any indian casinos near you, you can start gambling there at 18! That's what I did... hehe. But if there aren't, you have to wait til you're 21 - hehe :tomato:

I do a pretty good job at playing poker in person. And if I played with real money, I know I'd be a good player.

I suck at cards in person. If you know me in real life, you know I can't stop laughing and if I get a good hand, smile's like from ear to ear lol.

I'm good at mixing up my emotions. It all depends on my efforts to keep a straight face, and which direction I want to take the hand.

Lol, for some reason this made me laugh, mostly the underlined parts.

But, I guess that's another thing we have in common e, I have a serious serious hatred toward gambling for money. I believe it causes more hurt that joy.

My father and brother gambled away thousands on one trip to Atlantic City using the money that was for a trip my mom had planned to visit her mom in Colombia. The only thing they won was a complimentary steak dinner, that supposedly my brother cried eating and a sad sad trip back home. My mom never got to see my grandma again because she died about a year later.

I have personally only spent a total of $1.00 in a slot machine 1 out of the 2 times I went to Las Vegas. And that's all I plan on spending. It's my individual choice for me not to associate my life with something that can cause so much pain and that can become more than a vice and a serious addiction. However, if other people take pleasure out of it or hopefully win more than they've lost, all the best to you
