Okay, picture this: A filmmaker from Joe Schmoe Productions (JSP for short) has decided to make a movie out of your favorite video game. He asks you, who is an expert of the game of course, to pick the main character(s).

Who would you choose to star as the main character(s) of your favorite video game?

Funny story, jsp is an actual web site used by certain video games dealing with currency forums. It's strange unless ya know how to work it. But...back on topic...
The video game would have to be a pretty well known one: Gears of War. But not 2 nor the impending GoW 3. Now the cast is a bit trickier, because Jason Statham has to be thrown in somewhere...because he's awesome...he can be Baird. Slap a blonde wig on him ^_^ Gerard Butler can be Marcus, which is probably a hot pick for most people. Cole can be played by that huge guy in "The Green Mile." Can't remember his name. Captain Minn can be, you guessed it, Jet Li ^_^ I'm having a touch time with Dom. I guess any random dark haired guy with a huge build lol.

I often thought about something similar Infekt.

I honestly think it would be dumb if they did a Movie relevant to the Human-Locust story-line, but more focused on with Marcus & Dom growing up as children onto their adolescent years into Adulthood where they fought in the Pendulum Wars.

Pretty much based off of the first book, but without all the back-flashes, and memories of what they remembered. Something solid, from beginning to end with obviously some sort of finale ending with Emergence Day, or Marcus left to die in Prison.

I love the quote from Dom in the first novel where he say's: "Taking a Shower separates Humans from Animals."

The flash-back where Marcus and Dom are in training on how to execute their enemies, taught by Bernadette Mataki to snap the neck of a chicken.
Just the words alone and imagining the sound and feel of bones crackling & popping sends chills down my spine.


I'm sure that's where the new title Gears of War: Exile will come into play as it sounds like a prequel to Gears 1. Exile in other words is Banned. Marcus was exiled to life in prison for leaving his post/squad to save his father, so it sound's legitimate, but one can never be to sure!

I would love to see a Mass Effect movie, but at the same time I don't want one to be made. Mass Effect is probably based off of a series of books (I really don't know), but I don't want to see a male Shepard because I play as a female. I think that video games should only be made into movies when the game has a set main character, such as Master Chief in the Halo games or John Marston from Red Dead Redemption.

It would be awesome if one of the Legend of Zelda games was made into a live-action movie. Maybe Andrew Garfield (Social Network) could be cast as Link? I don't know. :/

It may sound silly since he already played Jack Shephard, but, now that I'm really thinking about it, Matthew Fox would make a great Shepard in the Mass Effect movie. Not that I don't like Hayden Christensen... :)

my pick has unfortunately already been made: Max Payne. while wahlberg wasn't a bad choice for the main character (same for mila kunis as Mona Sax), the butchering of the storyline and all other characters was unbearable and made the movie a "Hardcore fans only" deal. changes such as:

1. Alex not even being friends with Max anymore and Max doesn't rendezvous with him at the subway station where Alex gets killed and Max gets framed for murder.

2. The Italian mob is nowhere to be seen even though they are the main villains for the majority of the game up until the big twist in chapter 3.

3. He doesn't kill Nicole Horne (head of Aesir CORPORATION, not pharmaceuticals) and instead has the big fight in the offices against B.B and his goons instead of Nicole's.

4. Vladimir Lemm and Vinnie Gognitti arent even in the movie when they are essential to the story line!

there is tons more stuff i could name but the damage has been done and now i just pray that blizzard never agrees to make a StarCraft or Diablo movie. (warcraft i dont care cause i wouldnt go see it since i have never played a warcraft game and never will)

Also a good idea, Scelestic. If someone really wanted to, they could possibly make a trilogy with a GoW storyline. They have a lot to work with, and a huge fan base that would follow.

You're right! Matthew Fox looks very similar to the ME character...I love Hayden Christensen (especially as Anakin in the Star War movies) but unfortunately he may be a little too young to pull it off

Sure he would. :)

Mark Vanderloo fits Shepard best in appearance only because he was the model for the creation of the game character. There are better men (actors) out there who could be cast as Shepard for the live-action movie than someone who simply looks or moves like the character.
