I'm PUMPED! I just noticed today that one of my previous articles written for The Escapist (http://escapistmagazine.com) a few days ago was put on Slashdot (http://games.slashdot.org/games/06/11/08/201201.shtml)!

I've been part of the Escapist News Room for about two months now, and the story is related to EA's publishing of Hellgate: London (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/newsroom/view/66113-EA-to-Publish-Hellgate-London).

Anybody here already read The Escapist? Thoughts on the site/magazine?

congrats!

slashdotting is when one of your articles appears on slashdot.org (http://slashdot.org). a few minutes after the article appears on slashdot, then your site gets hammered with a too much traffic and goes down. digg.com (http://digg.com) is another popular news aggregator that can cause the same effect on a website.

Congrats, being slashdotted is a big deal and certainly something worth being excited over. Best of luck getting future articles put up there as well as digg.

Ah. I worked for a site who has gone down a number of times due to too many people visiting at one time. Usually during E3.

We'd create these elaborate rumors that would cause an influx of traffic, and no matter how much we prepared for the size, we always crashed.
