Anyone watch the first episode of the MLG season on USA this morning?
It was really interesting how they put it all together. Easy for people not familiar with the scene to understand it. I didn't really like how they only really showed the semifinals and finals tho. I guess due to time, they couldn't fit in too much. plus it was the opener so they did a lot of explaining of the gametypes and such. I wonder what it will be like next week? more game time and less explaining? i hope so. Another thing that kinda annoyed me was the commercials every 5 minutes it seemed. After a while, they were just repeat commercials of Boost Mobile, Scion and MLG. It made me want to turn the channel. I wonder how the normal, everyday USA watcher viewed the segment....
Don't forget to watch it next week at 10am on USA! :)

I didnt get to see it. I woke up and it was 11 and i forgot they had it on. I dont think i'll ever get up early enough to see it so hopefully someone recorded it and will post it somewhere.

i woke up at 11 too!! i was so mad i woke up right after the show.

I found the announcers really annoying because they didn't know what they were talking about. Other than that, it was interesting, and I'm looking foward to watching next week's episode.

yea that was kinda annoying but besides that i really like the way it was presented, and the way they somehow managed to show the game in 3rd personw as pretty cool. :)

i watched some of it. since i was at every single mlg, i already knew what was going to occurs. But they did a very good job of putting the show together. I enjoyed it.

Thanks vinx, watching it now. The production is nicely done, but its just a bit too jumbled. Since I've been to a couple MLGs now I understand how it works and all, but the explinations given by the announcers focused more on the individual gametypes and when they focused on the game it was just an individual and not more of a 'how the overall tide of the game is going'.
And the MLG commercials.......i'm not even going to go there.
I enjoyed watching it for the most part, but I do think that they've got a lot of room for improvement especially when it comes to getting the masses of viewers to understand the program.
One other thing, why did they focus on some games like hardcore and then end it with a brief overview of the last two, it was just....anticlimactic. *sigh*

I was impressed with the commentating. Typically, when you hear commentating on a videogame based competition, it sounds a bit sloppy. These guys got excited for all the right reasons.

Yes. The show is actually making everything sound like its happening Live. They say things like "next week, blah blah blah"

I think it would matter under normal circumstances (though the rudeness sure could have been left out). Generally speaking, I'd pull out the Thread Necro (http://www.67250.com/nokarot/lolpictures/ThreadNecro.jpg) for this one.
But, I actually saw some random episode of MLG on last night (at midnight or so). Not sure if it was a new season or if they're replaying them all. Either way, I guess that means it deserves a bump of some kind.

I know what you mean. I was watching it (I live in Canada) and it got kinda old after a while, it was very.. well it was constantly pushing marketing ploys. But it is not exactly common to have a POPULAR gaming show with actual financial backing, so I believe that this show will evolve into something much, much better in the future.
