The World Series of Video Games, presented by Intel today announced that the finals for the 2006 circuit will be held at the famed Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex in New York City on December 9-11, 2006. 95 seasoned pro gamers will by vying for the ultimate achievement in PC and Xbox competition, and a prize pool that includes over $240,000 cash, Rolex watches, new computer systems and trophies. The WSVG Finals is the culminating event of the circuit’s international events, which began in June 2006.
Gamers from around the world have competed on a broad array of PC and Xbox games including CounterStrike 1.6; Quake 4; Warcraft III: Frozen Throne; Halo 2; Project Gotham Racing 3 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The WSVG circuit has thus far consisted of five Major events that were held in Louisville, KY; Dallas,TX; Chengdu, China; Jonkoping, Sweden; London, UK, with the top two winners of each game category at each event qualifying for the Finals. These competitions have been held in festival environments attracting over 75,000 spectators and participants so far this year.
