Today I had an interview for games developer Eutechnyx! They contacted me about vacancies in their QA department and I can say the interview went really well :D Eutechnyx are a North-East based studio so it means I don't have to mess about relocating and I can stay up here. Most of the ones I've applied for in recent times are in London. Eutechnyx specialise in racing games with only a couple widely-known games...Big Mutha Truckers 2 and SRS: Street Racing Syndicate.

I sat down with the QA Manager and Project Manager and had a good talk about previous experience and about the company in general. I wasn't nervous at all, couldn't wait to get there. The studio itself is hidden away in the business park part of the Metro Centre and isn't as big as say EA's Chertsey studio. Having said that though it was very modern inside and I felt at home instantly.

They asked me about my previous testing experience and my background. I told them about the clan and asked what software they used as a bug database (they use an in-house created programme for reference). I picked up on some good vibes and key phrases from them which leads me to believe its looking good. I have to go back to test one of their titles and show I know what I'm talking about.

Theres been a variety of opportunities come my way in the past year or so but for whatever reason most haven't worked out (cruise ship thing for example). Things are looking up, I'll let you all know if I get it.

Do you know of any other video game testing companies? That's something I'm interested in.

Awesome, good luck with it.

I'm hoping I get my hands on a nice scholarship for my pursuit in the IT Field.

Thanks everyone!!

Yeah I do but theres way too many to mention. Directory list of Console/PC developers (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/directory.php?action=browse&cat=38) I have a whole favourites folder dedicated to games companies sites and their recruitment pages. I'm not aware of any Oklahoma-based developers off the top of my head but previous experience has shown me that these jobs usually involve relocating. Check this site out for games industry jobs http://www.gamesindustry.biz/jobs.php (the site doesn't appear properly on my browser but it may work for you).

If QA testing is what you want to get into I would suggest studying game design or C++ as it is considered an advantage. However, I got my foot into the door of the industry on pure enthusiam. This can be done by gaining experience at a smaller developer to begin with before stepping up to the likes of Bungie, EA and Ubisoft etc. Try handing in your resume directly via email by visiting the sites of the developer but you may also want to try industry recruitment agencies (these agencies can be hit or miss as they'll demand a fee from the company for their service).

I hope that helps :)
