Hot off the presses info you all need to know about your new wii!!!!!
Can games be stored on external media such as SD cards, and what happens if you run out of storage space?
Nintendo: Games that are downloaded can be stored either to the Wii's internal memory (512MB) or onto SD cards, which plug into the SD slot on the front of the Wii. In addition the console also stores a history of all of your downloads so that if you have to delete any VC games for any reason you could re-download them for free at a later date.
Will you be able to take your VC games to a mate's house, say, on an SD card?
Nintendo: No. All VC games will be locked to the console they are downloaded on so even if they are on an SD card they can't be used on other machines. You will have to take your Wii with you.
Does that mean that if your console breaks you lose your VC games forever?
Nintendo: No. Nintendo will offer support to help Wii owners with problems to recover their games.
Also the classic controller WON'T work on gcn games only gcn pads will.
Personally i'm dumbfounded even after getting a 2-4 GB SD card i can only play my games on 1 wii,even
XBLA on 360's better than that tieing everything to your gamertag so you can buy pac-man and put it on as many 360's as you like as long as your online (only the original HDD can be played offline) and logged in
under your gamertag. Even if you put the game on your friends HDD without your profile logged in all they get is the trial game.
Nintendo NEEDS to allow your profile/mii to be your gateway to the virtuial console which SHOULD be storable on our REMOVABLE sd cards...but i fear that data's locked down in the built in paltry 512 mb
onboard wii hence why only 1 system will function at any givin time.
Other than this unfortunate news the wii's looking great......but they need to fix this and let's hope they can auto-update the functionallity like 360,psp,ps-3 or even original xbox.
As long as i've PAID for said game i SHOULD be able to PLAY it anywhere as long as it's my profile/mii
