EDIT: Never mind it appears to be working now.

EDIT2: Ok, it's not working again. While playing MW2 earlier it froze and a red light just keeps flashing on the front. Turned it off and on and nothing, just a red light. I leave it off for about half an hour and turn it on again, it appears to be working, until the controller won't sync and the screen freezes, then the red light comes back, now it's just doing the same as it did in the first place.
If it is broken this will be the 5th or 6th ps3 I've gone through in a year due to disc drive failure mainly and tbh I'm tired of it. Going to be insanely mad if I lose all of my heavy rain save data as well since I was on my second playthrough. This thing is barely used at all also.

It's the old 60gb model.

Uhmm

1 – Restart your console.

2 - Check for loose cables.

3 – Take out all cables, and plug them back in.

4 – Take out the hard-drive, and put it back into your console < read the manual.

If that doesn't fix it.. sony may have too.

I have a 80gig dude, never had any problems with it think i've had it for 2 years now.

Don't have the manual any more but I'll look it up. I'll take out the hard drive in a bit though see if that helps. Ty Trigger

Do you have a usb stick to back up your save data dude.. i don't think removing the hdd will lose you any data but still. Just in case :/

No worries anyway, hope it fixes it.

You may need to reboot the whole system. you may have a crupt file on you drive that is causing this. I had the same thing happen to my 60 about a year ago ( how ever it also yellow lighted shortly after I fixed it but it was used about 16 nours or more a day between my son, fiance, and myself )

check this out it may help how ever you will loose all of your stored data. Some people have had luck with only haveing to choose 2-4 but I had to restore the PS3 which is number 5. So basicly just do what the video says and start with number 2 and work your way down. You will have to go through the steps that pulled up the restore screen after every solution you try. If it one number doesnt work do it all over again and try the next.

Also 60g is the worst exspecially the first gen. The have a verry high failure 3 people out of 60+ that I know still have there 60g working everyone else has had the ylod.

Thanks for this. Have done all the steps and it seem the hard drive is gone it told me the hard drive is corrupted. Luckily we have a 3 year warranty which we paid for at the store and it's still covered under that. I feel like demanding a better console (slim?) from them as this will be the 5th or 6th replacement we have had from them, in all honesty it would be cheaper for them to give us a slim.

Funnily enough I've never had a problem with the 360 and it's on far more than the PS3. I'm like the opposite to the norm. lol

Yeah I actually had the same problem with my first PS3. My wife did alot of reading up on it and was able to fix it to only have the problem return again shortly.

Just fed up of having to get it constantly replaced and losing everything :( Just makes me not want to play any SP games.
