In case no one knows, Xfire is a program that interferes with steam and can create problems in game like network problems and video problems.

Xfire only takes around 1 mb of system memory when it's running (which is basically nothing). That's not nearly enough to cause additional network or video lag. I have run css smoothly for over a year now, and always had xfire running as well. Can you give me the details on what specific problem(s) you are experiencing with Steam and Xfire?

In terms of system requirements and running issues, xfire should have no issues with steam, especially considering the purpose of xfire is to run while games are running. Having said that, if you have xfire set to automatically download things and allow it to run with little or no bandwidth constraints while playing games then you might get issues. Otherwise it shouldn't be a big problem.

yea. xfire is meant to run while playing games like CS. so you can join people and vice versa as well as message. and like rip said it might be cause you have it set to download videos or demos from xfire while your playing

First I'm going to have to assume, since you posted this issue, that you're having a problem with steam and you're blaming xfire. I'm not going to make assumptions before trying a couple things first. I suggest you uninstall xfire since it's such a small program as all of the previous posters say. Now tell me if you have any of the same issues, if so THEN we can assume that xfire is the true cause and we'll go from there.
