As with many other people on the web, I am having problems with the Windows Based-PC running Windows Media Connect (Windows Media Player 11 in my case) not being able to see the Xbox360 console and vice versa.

After having tried all tips, suggestions and faqs online (mostly on microsoft.com) I still haven't found a solution.

Seeing my laptop CAN connect and exchange music and video with my 360 I'm totally at a loss as to why I can't connect on my desktop PC.

Anyone here have the same problem? If someone has encountered this problem and found a way to fix it, please post how you went about to solve the issue.

Thank you,

Dark Dajin

ps. Laptop is running Windows XP Professional and desktop is running Windows XP Home Edition. The model of the modem/router is ZyXEL 2602HW-63C.

is the 360 using a wired or a wireless connection, also have you downloaded the software to do the xbox media connect from microsoft's website?

I assume, since you've gotten it to work at your laptop, that this isn't as simple as forgetting to allow your 360 access to your shared files?
Are you able to ping the 360 from your desktop pc?

ping? how do I do that :|First, find out your Xbox' IP-address (this can be done from the System blade, and Network Settings -> Edit Settings.

Then, on your PC, Start -> Run -> CMD (press enter)
You'll now have the Command Line console up, then simply type in 'ping', followed by the ip-address of your Xbox.
C:\ping 192.168.10.26

However, I think that the 360 might block ping requests, I'm not able to get a sane reply from mine atleast ;)
So yeah, you can pretty much ignore all this, but atleast you learned how to use ping.
