Hi there

So I'm off to University this Saturday, and my mom won't let me take my TV. She suggests using my laptop screen instead. Now I have no clue what I need to do this. I have an HDMI cable for my xbox and no capture devices on my laptop. Can anyone give me a cheap solution to my problem? Is there some sort of USB device I can buy for an HDMI input (I think the one on my laptop is output) and install some software to play my games? Recording my gameplay would be great too (not needed, just an additional option)! :) I just need to somehow play my xbox games on my laptop monitor (no idea what the specs are)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, for I am seriously stuck for what to do

Indeed, I cant recall any good laptop that has ever had any video-in ports. Your best bet would be to get a computer monitor, and hook the xbox up via vga/hdmi that way. Maybe you can say that you need a bigger monitor for "school work" =P. Nice thing is monitors are so cheap these days, you can easily get a nice 19-20" lcd for just over $100 here maybe, and a 23" for 160ish. Not sure how the deals are out there though...

get an hdmi to vga converter if your laptop has an output to connect it to a monitor

All I can think of is buying a $200 capture device. I haven't bought it yet because I wanted to wait. Not sure if you'll have a delay, but all I can think of is buying a USB 3.0 Express Card for your laptop ... then buy Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. :)
