boohoo? they were doing something sony didn't like, therefore sony acted on it.

plus there are plenty of other sites to buy asia products, www.play-asia.com for one.

They probably need the money to pay off their own legal problems with Microsoft.

Lik-sang was a good site, I was even waiting for some new stock to come in on something but that'll never happen =(

Hate to break it to you but Sony has been evil for a long time. You're just the most recent victim. Has everyone forgotten what SOE did to Star Wars galaxies? THEY DESTROYED IT! Sony lost my business a long time ago.

Any company that makes dancing wookies die does not deserve to live. Sadly It is Sony, and unlike thier minidisc players, they will survive.

Long story but I got ahold of one of Sony's music players. Of course being Sony, they made you install their software and put your music into it. Well they didn't have the proper drivers on the CD so I couldn't even transfer songs to the player. Like c'mon!

But I won an iPod a few months later so I'm happy now. Oh and this relates to everything.

Funny since Sony head people purchased from Lik-Sang and the PSP court case was not valid since PSP's voltage is the same world wide 110v - 220v.

Anyways I am going to cancel my 2 SONY credit cards and my 5.1 surround system needs to be replaced later on so might see if SAMSUNG do a nice one or perhaps Panasonic.

This is like a double edge sword and besides that. They can cry about plugs all they want but the fact is they are only allowed to sell to Asia countries and decided to sell to Europe which breached the contract so I see nothing wrong with this.

You say that as if Nintendo and Microsoft have never sued Lik-sang before. They've been going down hill for a while.. it was only a matter of time. Sony just gets the blame because they pulled the trigger.

what have microsoft and nintendo done to lik-sang?? maybe over mod chips but what else?

Well Microsoft and Nintendo have this strange habit of releasing things on time, so people don't have to wait sixth months and over for a console/handheld.

PSP was released in Japan in December two years ago, it was released in Europe just over a year ago. How many people wanted a PSP in Europe? Probably a lot, so importing is a good path for them if they want one.

The PS3 is released later on this year, in Europe it is released around March I believe (not really interested as it will probably be delayed for some stupid reason) so there are a few months waiting if you want to get one in Europe. Solution? Import one.

It isn't even for people wanting a console earlier than their local release, you can get games earlier if you have a compatible console. I got Metal Gear Acid from Lik-Sang before I even had the PSP and it was even cheaper that it would have been.

Microsoft and Nintendo don't usually leave huge gaps in their release dates except for a few games. The time between the 360 releases was only a few weeks at most (except for a few 'out of the way' European countries) so most people don't import unless they want games early, and Ninty sometimes have region free games on their systems so importing is almost expected.

I have no idea what the above post has to do with this.. but.. next.

It was the mod chips, basically. But the fact is that every company did it.

Not to mention that Sony had every right to sue Lik-Sang. They break the rules, they get sued.. its their own fault.

someone who knows what they are talking about.

and who cares what happens, it happened.

OMG a HUGE corporation sued somebody!? that's NEVER happened before!

and you are saying SONY ruined that starwars game or w/e, soooo just because it was on the ps2, automatically sony did it?
and..one game? they "ruin" one game, and you hate the system, thats some good logic ;)

SONY IS THE DEVIL! NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! THEY ALL SUCK! THEY WILL BREAK! AND THEN SONY WILL JUST SUE YOUR ***!

Before anyone starts throwing too much mud perhaps they should review the Forum Code of Conducts:

*Bashing consoles, developers or games is also not permitted, you can post your criticism but keep the hate to a limit please.

Edit: I just noticed the extra "s" I put on Conduct at the top. I'm going to leave it though because it tickles me. Like, "There are some rumors floating around the Internets."

I believe part of the real issue here is the fact that Lik-Sang was the largest seller of mod-chips for consoles world wide.

Also, issues with the delay of the Ps3 launch in EU territories would yeild higher than normal import rates through the site. Its not so much that Sony was angry that they would be making money off sonys product (obviously not at any cost to sony) but its the fact that the devices would be region coded and if a large enough percentage purchased imported Ps3's coded for Japanese media it could hamper Sonys plans to use the Ps3 as a vehicle for its blu-ray format.

And lastly, warrenty issues coupled with regional pricing issues. As seen in this article: http://www.bit-tech.net/columns/2006/10/25/a_porting_shot/1.html.

I'm not saying I'm happy about what has happened. I havn't liked Sony as a company since the days of the Mini-disc and the failure rate of Ps2s. Sony consistently shows that they are out of touch in terms of what their consumer base wants and more often than not they leave me with a dissatisfied feeling in the pit of my stomach. Thats just me though.. I wont claim I'll never buy a sony product again as I'm not that fickle.. if they come up with a product that is at an acceptable price point and does the job I require and radiates a postive vibe, I'll purchase it. Sadly, they havnt produced something quite to that extent since the original playstation (for me). I'm hoping they do someday soon.. maybe the Ps3 re-design will do it for me (along with a price drop).
