So i talked to Adelphia b/c my internet was actually going (still is) slower than dialup!!!!! They told me that my modem wasn't returning signal to them, though they had sent one over 10 times .. . so my modem is failing out. Fortunately, they'll replace it for free. . . but now i'm so confused, i'm trying to decide how much of the connection issue was my new router's fault, and how much was my modem's fault . .. i think i'm gonna try to have my parents upgrade to the premier service (faster) . . . but it's kind of pricey . . . ugh, i hate technical issues.

The router i had before my D-LINK DGL-4300 was a linksys which when i called microsoft told me that my linksys had a history of dropping connections randomly.

When you called adelphia did you drop the router and simply connect the modem to the p.c.? (to test the basic set-up)

No matter the router the modem MUST be connected to the WAN port not the LAN ports.......also connecting a modem to the wan port using a crossover cable (system link cable xbox 1-example) WILL NOT WORK!!!!!

You must use a CAT 5 cable so if you're using a crossover cable check at target, staples or best buy and make sure you let them know you DON'T want a crossover cable.

no, i definitely was directly connected to the modem, it wasn't the router . . . but i DID exchange that router today for a DGL-4300 (which is working well considering the modem randomly cuts out every now and then) b/c it is faster (as you've told me). i tried to exchange the modem today, drove all the way there, and they told me i had to be over 18 to sign the forms to exchange it. bleh.

but know what's really sad?! (sorry, this is random) my doggie has an ear infection and is like, tilting her head to the side b/c it hurts her so bad! :(

Poor dog hope they get better soon. Have you upgraded the firmware yet?

Type : 192.168.0.1(DO NOT GOOGLE THPE IT AT TOP OF PAGE) this is the routers set-up page and after you update the firmware set transmission rate to best (auto),
802 11 to mixed,super g mode to super g with dynamic turbo.(under wireless tab)

Finally click advanced then ENABLE GAMEFUEL-WHENEVER IT ASKES YOU TO SAVE CHANGES DO SO...then the router will reboot in 60 seconds (internet unavaible for the duration)

After all's said n done save all setings as a desktop save so it's backed up/retrieveable.

How do you guys like the strong blue led's,bright arn't they? LOL!

If you mean after the reboot then providing you never made up either a usename/password just click ok.

On the log-in page it says admin and has a blank for your password but like i said if you don't have a password (never made 1 up/1st time user) just click ok.

In default settings some routers just have u type admin as the password-you're supposed to change it ASAP though.

You might wanna Unplug the modem for 60 seconds then plug it back in to let it power-cycle, thats what I do with mine.
