*Disclaimer* The Vbulletin update and these updates did cause some style changes, it is very difficult to go through all the styles and fix them all, in fact it is simply impossible. Because of that, while I will leave alternate styles available for selection, I cannot guarantee that they look normal or function properly. * /Disclaimer*
I know you all hate to see the forums down, but usually there's a reason, and since nobody likes general updates, I try to throw in some new features as well to keep you excited. Well, maybe I went a bit overboard here, because we've got a lot to talk about.
Changes and updates!
Upgraded to Vbulletin 3.6.2, the latest version
Automerge Double PostsWithin a few hours double posts will be merged. If someone else posts in between your post and a double post, it will not merge
Stickey auto-timeout Admins and mods can help keep those forums cleaner by having threads set to unstick themselves after a set time.
Forum Rules and Regulations (See explanation below)
H2O / PMS Clan Member Journals Currently set so all can view, PMS / H2O Clan members can create their own journal. It won't be open to everyone at this point just so we can see how it operates. Journals are like blogs essentially.
Individual Word Censors Bored of the ****? Gyps will be making those inappropriate words more...unique in the future. Remember your funnybunny muffins? They'll be back!
Arcade Only a few games at the moment, but go ahead waste your time there, make a challange...you know the drill
Advanced New Post Searching (see details below)
Newsletters - Comming soon! (not e-mail based)
Thread Title Looks (see description below)
Auto - multiple registration detection and several other community management features
Ok the details on a few above:
Forum rules and regulations:
As you may notice in the navigation bar, there is a new link to the forum rules and regulations. In addition before posting users are required to read and agree to the rules and regulations. The next time you attempt to post you will get a screen with the rules, after 15 seconds you can click that you agree to the rules and continue to making yoru post. This is a ONCE AND DONE thing, you won't get it every time you post. However, it does make sure everyone has gotten a chance to read the rules (there is a 15 or so sec time delay before you can agree to the rules, so hey you might actually read some of them!). Really, it may seem a bit annoying but once and done, and will save a lot of quesitons from newer users - might even help them learn about the introduction section!
Advanced 'New Post' Searching
Instead of your single button saying 'view new posts' now you have a drop down menu with a variety of options. If you just want to see new stuff in the sig section, click on 'tech talk'. If you do not have permissions to view a certain section of the forums you will just receive an error, so for example if I clicked on the view new posts in 'PMS arena', it would just tell me invalid thread specified. Not sure how many of you utilize view new posts, but this should be a nice addition.
Thread Title Looks
Sometimes its hard to eaisly see what is a stickied thread, what is a poll, what is a closed thread...etc. No longer, each will have its own color on the text of the thread, should make navigation really easy for all!
*thanks to sarg for helping out with the journals, and to vinx and gyps for helping test em*
Oh and btw, as of now I will be taking a mini forum vacation, if you need to get in touch with me, just bug me on AIM / MSN - I just put a lil bit too much time into this to get it all working and need a break. I'll still be around, but hold off on sending me name change requests or anything for a couple weeks. Not that most people will actually have read through all of that to get to this point...oh well.
