Hey i'd suggest everyone make theirs in a much larger size and save the .psd in a larger size because if they decide to allow the style to fill the screen (its sooo skinny for people with high resolutions) than they'll need a larger / longer version. Nice entries so far peoples, keep up the good work.

There's a few reasons. First off, that one was supposed to be a weekly or biweekly contest ;-)
But in a bit more importance the way the forums and especially the tempaltes here work. Plus we want to make sure we match the color schemes :-)

Here is mine. I went for simpler look than most of these however although it does work when I put it over a screenshot of the world I have found that Mr. Panda's here works the best.

It just simply fits the forum as it is now so much better than any of the other options as of now including my own.

I'm biased towards myself of course so I say I'm a close second, though really Vinx's 1st one also fits the forum layout very nicely. If I had to choose I would go with Gangster's though. It just works and is simple and classy enough to keep the forum looking truely well done.


Though out of pure awesomeness (I mean I wish I could do that.) I would say Moe is high up there. I like the self-drawn image effect. It looks very nice.

It will randomly display any of the .gif's, .jpg's or .png's that's in a specified folder, and you can use an <img src="index.php"> to make it work. Pretty damn simple, so let me know if you're interrested in using this, and I'll send you over a copy of the file.
If you choose to add more headings as time goes by, all you have to do is to add them to a folder, and it will be taken into the cycle.

I agree. With a skin in place the coloring of the banner would be easier to figure out. In my case it's not too much of a big deal. I just have a color balance layer that I can adjust to match the forum's skin if need be.

Flash banners are a bit of a pain to impliment properly with vb, but they rae really nice. Especially when you can include buttons to other portions of the site and whatnot. Definately something to look into for the long run.

I think that banner from the old forum wasn't very good looking. I like panda's the most as of now. I'll try and make a banner to see if it compares.

Here is an example of the ease inwhich we coudl change the styles. This was a quicky but I was able to create an example gradien (still a bit too much contrast) and use user css files to recreate how it would look with it. Then I used a CSS bit of code to cover up the image that is in use (theheader) and replace it with my own.
Took a screenshot and bam.

A skinning would be easier than might be expected.

Okay I'm not going to attempt to make one since everyone has already jumped all over it but I am going to put in my 2 cents... the PMS website... yes its a girls clan but the forums are definitely used by males and females equally so why don't you try to appeal to both audiences equally for the banner...? maybe even include h2o? I like where your going with yours vinx.... try a few different color theories and keep posting... the old green look was nice, a neutral color both males and females can relate to :)

Yes, we do have to be careful what images we use in this banner if it isn't a pic silhouetted as that would be equal to violating copyright laws. And in reply to PMS X a while back, if anyone want's to use any of my images, just PM me with where you intend to put it and/or how you wish to use it and I'll let you know.

Actually Methodz, we have few pros working on our main site and we'll be working on this site at the same time. This have just been busy with getting ready for event after event. Thank you for the offer though. We could always use suggestions though, so you probably want to PM her and let her know you could help with site suggestions.

Submitters: Remember no copyrighted stuff unless you have the permission of the original artist to specifically use it in this manner and for PMS. That's usually kinda hard to get so it's best if it's completely original, especially if it will be an official banner. We're also going to need anyone who's banner is chosen to hand over the rights to it to PMS Clan, so we can use in any way.

not if i drew it.....Actually, Joanna Dark is still made by Rare no matter if you choose to use your own drawings of her or not. If I am to draw Mickey Mouse, would that make him my character, and not Disney's?

i thought that the rule was that first: if you are using an existing drawing.... it must be changed 60% or more to become a "original work" and that if you use a drawling... the same 60% rule applies that it becomes your own work when that change is applied....

if i am wrong... i will change the picture... if anyone even like the sticken banner anyways

Because it wasn't meant to be an original one. For that matter it wasn't the original one. Really people. It was meant to have the header changed every week or month or so but it never really happened. Secondly-> It doesn't match these forum colors. The only one that I would say matches the forums and completely gives the image would be Gangsters.

All of them are very good, but very few lookg good and work well with the forum layout as it is now. Once the layout changes that will of course change. For now however I think we should just go ahead and switch it to gangsters for the time being.

The switch to the new style puts a lot of restrictions on the limits of any sort of banner. The current size one you see at the top is about the max width we can have. That is because the style is a fluid width, if you change your screen res or browser size you can see how it scales, kinda nifty eh? Also there's bars on the top and bottom (the female and kanji symbol go over them a tiny bit), and those have to be integrated to match the style. There's some good work here, but for the most part it doesn't work with the requirements for a forum style now.

My first, and really lousy attempt, 800x110 so it'll be easy to replace the one that's already there. Kept it rather easy to fit the current theme of these boards.
